Cech joins. Still unsure what to make of it. Hopefully he doesn't bring Arsenal's strategy with him. "His role will also align him with the men’s first team coaching and backroom staff, travelling with the team home and away with an emphasis on strategy and performance." https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/06/21/petr-cech-appointed-technical-and-performance-advisor
Sounds like a great job. He gets to go to all the games and hang out with the team. AND he doesn't have to train or keep fit. Essentially he is a spy for Roman and the board right?
The NEW Makalele role will be. . .left his job as manager of Belgian side KAS Eupen at the weekend and Standard Sport understands he is being lined up to work with the loan players at Chelsea. Chelsea FC have a number of other ex-players on the staff including Joe Cole, Tore Andre Flo, Paulo Ferreira, Eddie Newton and Carlo Cudicini. Seems to me that Chelsea FC are actually trying to sort out some of the long-term structures at the club. It takes time.
https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...st-year-of-three-year-chelsea-contract-report Now that this is essentially done, I’m excited. When I jumped on the Chelsea bandwagon, Frank quickly became my favorite player. While I get that has nothing to do with his probability of success, it means I’ll be rooting for him a little extra hard.
Assistant manager Gianfranco Zola will leave Chelsea this weekend when his contract expires, having turned down the offer of an ambassadorial role at the club.
Some insight into Sorri the man: (And this was a home match against Sassuolo, not away against Juve) "Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has opened up on just how tense former Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri can really be. On the morning of a Serie A clash at home to Sassuolo, the Senegal international had to plead with the Italian to rush over to the hospital where his wife was giving birth to their first child. He eventually arrived at noon, welcome his son an hour and a half later and was then told to rush back to the Stadio San Paolo for the game only to find out just how "crazy" Sarri was. "The best part for me is that my son was born here. And I will never forget this day, because it is a crazy story that sums up everything about Napoli," he told the Players Tribune." You see, my wife went into the clinic in the morning, and we were playing Sassuolo at home that night. "We were in a video analysis session, and my phone kept vibrating. I usually turn it off, but I was worried for my wife. She called me five or six times. "Our manager at the time was Maurizio Sarri. He’s a very intense guy. So I didn’t want to answer. Finally, I ran outside and picked up the phone and my wife said, "You have to come now. Our son is coming." "I go to Sarri and I say, "Mister, I’m sorry but I have to go now! My son is coming!" "Sarri looks at me and says, "No, no, no. I need you tonight, Kouli. I really need you. You can’t go." "I say, "This is the birth of my son, Mister. You can do whatever you want to me. Fine me, suspend me, I don’t care. I am going." Maurizio Sarri with Kalidou Koulibaly (Photo by Carlo Hermann/AFP/Getty Images) "Sarri looks so stressed, and he is smoking his cigarette. Smoking, smoking, thinking … then finally he says, “O.K., O.K., you can go to the clinic. But you have to be back for the match tonight. I need you, Kouli!” "I raced over to the clinic as fast as I could. If you have never been a father for the first time, then you cannot understand this feeling. You can’t miss the birth of your son. I arrived at the clinic at noon, and thank God, at 1:30, a little Neapolitan was born. We named him Seni. It was the happiest day of my life. "At 4 p.m., I got a call from Mr. Sarri. This guy … you just have to understand … he’s crazy. I say this in a good way, but he is crazy!"
I think we need a new manager thread. Rubbing the Magic Lamp The Super One A Frank Conversation about Management
Explains a lot: (my last parting shot...perhaps) "Former head coach Maurizio Sarri did not watch a single academy training session and did not attend any under-23 games during his year in charge." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...l-merge-chelsea-academy-first-team-encourage/
I guess we have to have all the social media videos shot, graphics made, press releases written, backroom staff selected, etc. I think it's also a courtesy to Derby if they can announce a new manager around the same time.
let's wait for confirmation then we can put it up. continue the voting though. they're all awesome so far.
