I was looking at mlssoccer's players list for a particular player and saw a listing for an Iranian international among the MLS players. His name is Ehsan Hajsafi, and he's a 24 year old defender who played in the 2014 World Cup for Iran, and currently plays (and has always played) in Iran. I did a little google searching and can't find anything linking him with a move to MLS. So, why is he listed on MLSsoccer? Has anyone heard any transfer rumors about this guy? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehsan_Hajsafi
They did team guides for all of the World Cup teams. As far as I can tell, all the players at the tournament are in the system. http://www.mlssoccer.com/worldcup/2014/iran Probably a simple data entry mistake which made Hajsafi show up in the MLS players list.
That is all it is. Luke Shaw appears in the list and he was just bought by ManU for 33 million pounds.
I've always wondered how much hassle it is to be a citizen of one country in another country which doesn't have diplomatic relations with your homeland. Is an Iranian passport accepted as valid ID anywhere in the US? Do the various sanctions prevent payment of a transfer fee?
Interesting question on the transfer fee. Azizi was with Koln in Germany before he came to the Quakes. The passport should be fine. My grandmother-in-law traveled here several times when relations were much worse than they are now.
