Hey everyone, I am a long time follower and remembered I had an account I made a while back. Getting into playing again after a lengthy absence... I tore my ACL 19 months ago that required reconstruction and am now 10 months out of surgery and deep into physio and training. Used to play at the university level here in Canada but will probably stick to 7-a-side games from now on. Any other players on here coming back from injury? Rob
Three Knee Surgerys (Same Knee) 1. Ortho (Tore all ligaments) 2. Torn ACL and MCL (Replaced ACL from hamstring) 3. Ortho (Torn MCL and has been removed) Playing days are over, but USSF, College, Semi-Pro Referee
Wow I can't imagine going through 3 knee incidents and surgeries, almost makes me a little sick thinking about it. Obviously though you have prevailed and are still able to keep up during games you are officiating. You are obviously one strong minded individual. My ACL reconstruction also used 2 hamstring tendons for the graft, so far that is the most difficult area to restrengthen. I couldn't believe how non invasive the surgery could be I have the tiniest incision scar. Luckily my university had a top surgeon for these things and it was a smoother process then I ever could have imagined. Physio and overcoming mental barriers are the most challenging aspects of recovery I find but as long as you are determined and work hard at getting fit again you can overcome any injury.
It has been a tough road, but well worth it. I have a two year old, so coaching, running around, etc is in my future.
