My Serie A side of the last 20 years:

    -----------------Buffon

    ---------------F Baresi

    ----Ferrara-----Bergomi------P Maldini

    --------------Rijkaard

    -------------------------Boban

    -----R Baggio------Maradona

    -----Van Basten-----Batistuta

Subs: Peruzzi, Vialli, Del Piero, Donadoni, Cannavaro, Ravanelli, Costacurta, Ronaldo, Nedved, Nesta and Vieri.

Ronaldo is a player that I hate and that's why he's on the bench. He's still there because he was a very good player at his time with Inter, I see that but I've never liked the guy.

OK, here's an all-time Germany XI made of players with an umlaut in their name.

    --------Schäfer--------Gerd Müller-------Völler

    ----Hansi Müller---------Matthäus--------Hässler

    ---B. Förster-----K.H. Förster---Wörns-----Höttges

    --------------------------Köpke

Perhaps, but I prefered a second team on the bench. With another player for every position.

He was still a fantastic striker without Rui Costa. You have only made that comment because Rui Costa is Portuguese. Batistuta was still scoring lots of goals with Roma and he had the midfielders to suplly the passes to him with Argentina.

Remember, it's my list and I have two attacking midfielders better than Rui Costa that would assist Batistuta. Excape Goat managed to pick that up.

Van der Sar instead of Kahn and Cocu in midfield.

Ah, geez. My bad. I didn't even know Maldini was still playing -- I assumed he had retired by now!

You're correct. It was Christian's brother Max who was born in AUS.

Which brings up the bizarre situation of two brothers playing for two different national sides.

Best XI for players who missed a PK in a penalty shootout for European Championship or WC Finals.

For European Championship, I only got the data from 1976 and 2000. I had no record for Copa America. Hoeness and Crespo are the only one who made the list.

    GK None
RB Pearce -- England, WC 1990
CB Julio Ceasar -- WC 1986
CB Barsei Italy -- WC 1994
LB Maldini -- Italy Euro 200
RM Baggio -- Italy WC 1994
CM Socrates -- Brazil WC 1986
CM Platini -- France WC 1986
LM Maradona -- Argentina WC 1990
    FW U.Hoeness -- West Germany 1976
    FW Crespo -- Argentina 1998

Interesting not many forwards have missed in WC penalty shootout. Massaro was the only other choice.

    Others
    Donadoni
    Bossis France WC 1982 CB
    Stielike West Germany, WC 1982
    Six
    Waddle
    Massaro
    Petrescu
    Albertini
    Ince
    Lizarazu
    Valerón
    Cocu
    U.Hoeness
    Maldini
    Joaquín
    R.de Boer

My birthday is also in October and there are lots of statistics to suggest that it is the month in which most great fooballers are born.

My crosses make Beckham's look like nothing. My speed makes Rommedahl look like a slowpoke. And I won't even start about my dribbling, let's just say Robben would be jealous.

Somehow Ajax just missed me. :D
