new National training center... Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes directed a group of 35 people down a passageway Monday, serving as the unofficial tour guide for a $75 million structure. On his left, he pointed toward a cryotherapy room, designed to accelerate muscle recovery. On his right, there was a hypobaric chamber, a room with adjustable altitude. After a step backward, he explained the benefits of another space with motion analysis. And on it went. Yeah, and the public footed the majority of the bill for that training center too.... It'll be interesting to see just how much the US Nat teams actually use that facility.
I think the point was that Houston tried something a different that stands out from the crowd, and their fans will probably buy a bunch more of them than if they were plain black. That they have a subtle nod to their city's sports history is a bonus. IMO, the most iconic/standout jersey in Philadelphia sports history (all sports) is the light blue 80's era Phillies jersey, but I don't know how well that could be adapted to a soccer jersey (note: I'm not counting classics like the Phillies pinstrips or the Eagles jersey...while iconic, their designs are traditional and don't stand out from the crowd).
For the colors, I agree, but I was thinking more that the giant "P" on that Phillies jersey would look weird on a soccer jersey, but would loose something if shrunk down to the size of the crest.
Also a fan of SKC's simplistic black & silver. Reminds me of how well executed the Steel retro jersey was. Since then we have had terrible following terrible.
I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I don't like black for black's sake. I think a team's uniform ought to reflect its colors, and not some other colors. I don't like the Philadelphia Eagles' black jerseys for the same reason. It's also possible that I am a curmudgeon.
This is actually scary: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...ave-to-spend-more-in-new-mls-financial-realm/ The Sounders are having trouble keeping up with the league's big spenders.....this doe not bode well for Sugarman's Union....

So...do you root for or against NYRB in CCL? I found myself conflicted last night. Is it like rooting for a hated player when he plays for the USMNT because it’s for the US or do you always hate Red Bull?
It's exciting to see MLS do well... but if they blew it I would have laughed at them. That's my approach for the tournament... hope for some good games, have interest in MLS winning, but laugh at the MLS teams when they fumble their chance.
A little part of me wanted the Mexican teams to win so I wouldn't have to hear from the MLS propaganda machine and fanboys about how the league is finally on even footing with LMX.
The league's growth has been fun. Makes the games more fun. However, from a Union perspective, it's terrifying. This team is such a non-factor within MLS, let alone any international competition.
excuse me sir, I'm not sure if you have heard this, but we extended CJ Sapong's contract.... We're GOLD I tell you... GOLD
