Why am i reading chelsea and conte diacussing contract extension? When was the last time (not including interim managers) actually saw out their original contract?
Because his salary is not on par of where it should be. Arsene Wenger France Arsenal £8.3 million Antonio Conte Italy Chelsea £6.5 million Jose Mourinho Portugal Manchester United £15 million Jurgen Klopp Germany Liverpool FC £7 million Pep Guardiola Spain Manchester City £15 million Mauricio Pochettino Argentina Tottenham Hotspur £3.5 million Rafael Benitez Spain Newcastle United £4.5 million Ronald Koeman Netherlands Everton £6 million Mourinho and Pep earned over double what Conte did. Even Ronald Koeman at Everton nearly earns as much. Giving Conte a deal worth ~£10m a year is very reasonable.
Looks like Poch could use a raise too. After the Spurs handed out so many new deals to players they better give him a nice pay raise too.
Poch has never won a trophy as a manager with any team anywhere. 3.5 is too much, honestly. Surprised at how little Wenger is getting. The loyalty is something. Two years ago, he could have gotten 20m to go to PSG, Madrid, etc. Now? Qatar.
He should be making 6-7 mill minimum. He's taken a team that was always on the outside looking in and turned them into one of the top teams in England. They've gotten better each year under him. And unlike most of the other top clubs he has little money to play with (outside of the summer the sold bale) and his wage structure is drastically lower. But he's managed to lock up all of his guys and they even want to stay at less then what they'd make elsewhere to work with him. He's a great coach and deserves more than 3.5.
I think it will be tougher for him to convince his players to stay at a lower salary when the manager himself is making 7 million.
Meh. Redknapp got them to the CL, too. Also, very poor showings in CL and Europa. Very poor. He has improved the team year on year in terms of points but he still hasnt won dick. That's the difference between he and the other managers on that list. They've won cups, leagues, etc.
I remember a time when Spurs where the title challengers and Chelsea were the team 'always on the outside', to be honest with you Spurs have always been one of the Premier League's 'big boys' and a club of that stature should really be competing for the title every year, it would be far more impressive if Potch had taken Southampton to the brink of winning the league. I do begrudgingly think he has done a rather good job there though.
What's this about going after Lewandowski because Lewandowski is a fragile baby who wanted more yum yums while he was trying to get the golden boot. http://www.espnfc.us/blog/transfer-...-for-bayerns-lewandowski-as-lukaku-hope-fades
also some talk of athletico actually negotiating a more fair fee for Costa, around 50mil. though i also don't think there's much to that rumor right now.
Doesnt matter.. we could still come to an agreement. Same way Barca signed Arda Turan I'm pretty sure.He just wouldnt be able to play until january for them.
Alves to Citeh all but confirmed. Juve announced he has left the club. Rumor is a two year deal at Citeh.
yea very true. just saying it's another barrier. they'd be doing us quite a favor all things considered.
With Diego voicing his desire to play for Spain in 2018, I don't think waiting until January to start your club year is very wise.
