Not misremembering, I was very critical of him early on. Wasn’t yet a believer.

United are confident De Gea will sign a new deal.

Needs to be done, as soon as possible. The looming threat of Real is gone now, but still the sooner this is completed, the better...

It'll happen. He only wanted to leave us for one of the big two Spanish sides and now both of them have talented, young, long term keepers.

De Gea and United are still in negotiations over a new contract (as he's looking to be one of the highest earners at the club on par with Sanchez and Pogba).

    www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-danger-committing-another-13133352

Really should not be too hard for United to get this over the line. Dave wants to be one of the highest paid players at the club? Make it so: it's fair to say he's earned it with his consistently superb displays over the last 5yrs.
And when taking into consideration the rate top keepers are going for nowadays, it should make the decision even easier for Woodward.

Congrats to the best keeper in the game at the moment to make FIFA's World XI. Well deserved (as there's more to a season than the WC).

De Gea is reluctant to commit to a new contract with United.

    www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/10/08/david-de-gea-reluctant-commit-beyond-current-deal-asmanchester/

Interesting development, if true. It was not that long ago (not even a month ago) that he claimed to being more than happy at the club. Seems like another power move in the offing: either to try and negotiate a bigger deal. Or it could be his way of speaking to the board that the current situation does not fly and something needs to happen.
Either way, more pressure on Woodward's shoulders, since Dave is a player, like Pogba or Martial, he simply can not afford to lose.

Cant blame him with the upper management failing the club.

There is nothing to blame him for really: he's holding the cards right now. And when you're in that position, it's only normal I think to take advantage and throw your weight around a bit, especially when you look around and see a complete shitshow at the moment.

PSG will break the bank for him regardless of scrutiny by FFP. Cant blame him he has been xceptional for us and in his right to analyse the mess thats surrounding the club. He could have won CL 3 times had it not been for fax machine.

Dave should have a lot more in his time at the club, but he's not going anywhere. He's clearly trying to force the club's hands at this point, as mentioned, whether it's to secure himself an insane contract (which he deserves tbh) or to push for some moves, more to the point getting a new manager in place.

De Gea wants to stay at Manchester United - Mourinho

    www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11565508/david-de-gea-wants-to-stay-at-manchester-united-says-jose-mourinho

Don't doubt for one moment that Dave would want to stay: he's beloved, he knows it and appreciated it. Plus he's aware that United are one of the few clubs who can really pay him.
When it's all and said though, as much as I want him to stay, he might be only top player of ours I could not be mad at, if he decided to move. He's one of the few that stick with us and somehow kept us afloat these past few years. And he deserves better: the guy genuinely deserves to be in the running for big trophies. And at his age, if he does not feel he can get that from United....

De Gea tends to concede goals that are easier to concede. Near post types. Regardless if he continues that way for the next four years you could say he will be up there in the top five historically.

He is the number one today.

DDG is the best shot stopper since I've been watching (30 years now).

Hard to say best ever keeper just yet. But best individual shot stopper, no doubt.

we don't deserve DdG. or at least he deserves better.

truthfully we don't deserve Pogba or Martial either based on this turgid molasses football we want to play.

No. We're shit and he deserves better. Give the man CL and all the money he desires. I'll start the GoFundMe myself.

Word is, he wants 300k/wk. I say give it to him, he's earned it. Drop in the bucket considering his quality and the price good keepers are going for nowadays.
