I agree that at some point, he very well could be in line to get it, but he really doesn't need the added responsibility, at this time at least. The next couple of years should be solely dedicated to him taking his game to the next level. Growing into a true leader will come organically to him down the line. Would love for Herrera to get it as well, but I have a feeling that Valencia will be the guy, at least for next season (he's got the seniority and Jose is fond of him). With a little luck, Herrera could be the vice captain and step in when Valencia steps down.
Agree don't on not a captain. I'm sure he would have the players' respect, but he has a personality like Ronaldinho, that's a player you admire, not to me you make captain.
Pogba had a point to pove against England. www.skysports.com/football/news/12025/10916235/paul-pogba-will-get-better-and-better-says-france-team-mate-hugo-lloris All the more remarkable he was so dominant in that game, given the fact he very much looked like a guy who played within himself. Hard not to be excited by what's ahead potentially in regards to him.
We talk about Pogba's influence over a game and whether he should be molded into a player capable of playing in a double pivot. I think not. I think it is ok to expect him to get better at retention and judgment and positioning. However, he is capable of so much on the ball it is ludicrous to want him to play like guys who can't do half of what he does. I'm fine with playing him as a 6/8 against dross to exploit his work from deep and our advantage in possession, but in my mind, it is a water of his talent to anchor him with too many responsibilities.
For a moment, I thought this was you making a profound and poetic statement that I was too stupid to understand. Then I realised you meant "waste".
This has happened to me more in the last year than it has in the entire period leading up to that point. Truthfully I pay (post) {muthafvcking caught them this time, bastards} more often from mobile devices now, but I swear I put the word I mean in, and the stupid predictive text changes it when I'm not looking.
Esquire UK's interview of Paul Pogba, covering a wide range of issues. www.esquire.co.uk/culture/longform/a15786/paul-pogba-interview/
Pogba will be immense this season. Looking back at highlights of this season, he was able to play so many balls over the top to Ibra, can't imagine what it will be like with someone more mobile and willing to run. I'm a little miffed we didn't try for Lacazette or Auba. Both are less than ideal, but better than Morata. I'm looking forward to Pogba's increased influence and improved numbers too. I'm expecting 10+10 and maybe even 15+15 isn't out of the question if we manage to land a proper attacker and sure up athe wing and CM.
Agreed re Pogba. He got off to a slow start but really did everything asked of him and more. Had he had suffered quite a bit of bad luck hitting the woodwork his impact would have been immense. I'm not worried about not going after Laca or Auba. They've both earned great reputations but if they weren't right fit for Mourinho we're in no position to say otherwise.
Romelu Lukaku speaks about the day Paul Pogba realized he was returning to United. www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10687513/romelu-lukaku-reveals-paul-pogbas-joy-when-signing-for-manchester-united Can't help wondering if being there that day planted a seed in Lukaku's mind...
I'd agree same for Gillam Barrgue or whatever he's called . They both get slagged off by everyone in forums who laughably think they all know more than these guys with all their experience and footballing contacts ....
As is the case with any profession, some football reporters (or even so called teansfer specialists) are better than others, it's that simple really. There was a time when Guillem Balague was good and trustworthy. That is how he got hs reputation after all: I do remember a time when his reports and work were solid. But it s also true that for a reason or another, he's very much just been living of that name he made for himself (perhaps he feels the need to break scoops to stay relevant or who knows what else). But the fact remains that his wrk nowadays is just very poor and his reports, the vast majority of the time are just garbage now. I definitely don't feel the same about Marcotti: I feel he's still well wired in European football and more importantly, his integrity is still pretty intact for me. If he's asked something that he doesn't know the answer to, he's not afraid to say so (unlike others who will make up some BS stories). But the main point when it comes to football journalists is that while some are clearly better than others, it's just very hard to completely trust any of them, especially this time of year, because even they are being played at times by clubs, agents and players for reasons of their own. So a journo can report a story in good faith, but it very well can be coming from someone with an agenda or goal for making a story or facts public. But Balague has lost a lot of credibility: that's pretty much common knowledge now. Just take a look at his stories in the past year for example and you'll see how BS a lot of them are...
