Weather forecast for Wednesday night. At 8 pm: 93F 41% humidity wind 5 mph ENE Sunny 0% chance of rain As usual once the sun goes down the temps will fall slightly but the humidity will rise to about 60% by the end of the game.
Start later than 8 pm? I doubt it. Portland changed their game from 6 pm local time to 8 pm the same day.
It's actually a few degrees cooler than it was for Dallas. Yesterday with the morning clouds was down 7F. But still hotter than sh*t. Just hotter than sh*t minus a few. Starting Watts, Lundkvist, and Machado. Lord help us all. Wenger is available which is a good sign if not necessarily a lever we need to pull.
This ref is horrific. I don't usually indulge in this, but there were three guys off and worse than the one that got called back against LA. I mean a full step. And then two phantom corners. And the good tackle by Lundkvist. Eddie Robinson can go away again for all I care. I'd been spoiled by Quill and Boswell. Now I'm back to the guy who's not sure he can be a homer. They were off, Eddie. Not "maybe." That was a good tackle by Lundkvist. Not even questionable. Your journalistic integrity actually takes a hit when you can't make the right conclusion. And to me it's like I expect someone in the booth to be pro Dynamo. Not in the lame favorites way. Not in the organization man way. I mean in the calls it like he's a fan way. Don't point out for the league when we do a cheap shot. Don't hem and haw about whether stuff a Dynamo fan would say is true, is true. Ugh.
Manotas is better than Cubo was because he has the goals AND pace. BTW this ref needs to just go ahead and put a Philly shirt because it’s obvious from his performance he’s gonna try to throw this game for them. Who is our captain tonight? He should be riding up the refs back right now reminding him of how crappy he is. Also can we take Martinez out and put Memo in. The Philly plan is to collapse two players on Martinez or Ellis whenever they get the ball and it’s working. How many bad passes and turnovers have we had from those two? Tomas is too slow and can’t figure out how to handle the physicality. Take Martinez out and put Memo in if you want to win Cabrera...
The stuff Lundkvist is up to first half is why I'm like he should be considered as a mid or forward sub. I am not sure he can defend at the necessary level every week. I am sure he can hit a shot or a nice cross in.
There were 3 guys off, yes. And it wasn't an optical illusion of the camera angle diagonal this time.
At least we have him on the left side tonight. He started that play that led to the goal and shoulda had the assist to Manotas. Great team goal actually. Lundkvist, Tomas, Boniek and Manotas all played that goal perfectly.
I am new to VAR and one thing I am not liking here is the one goal call last week was borderline, should have been let be because it's inconclusive, then gets looked at and overturned. This is clear offsides, no doubt, never even looks, goal stands. The same play should be getting the same second look.
That Red Card was the type of shit VAR was supposed to fix. It feels even worse now when refs get it so wrong. At least before you could kinda appreciate that things happen so fast and they aren’t going to see everything. I’m disgusted.
Someone did the same foul on the sideline later on, that was a purposeful stomp, and it was a yellow. All he did was try to reach for the ball on a contested shot. It's really an ordinary foul at most. I look forward to this one being reversed. You can't get the game back but he might play.
How is Fuenmayor's not a legal shoulder charge? "Shoulder to shoulder" is not required. If the idea is he got chest doesn't that mean he was flopping here?
