Schalke wanting Weinzierl, club heads are surprised about internet reports that take those advances as more serious than pure ridicule considering Schalke's past track record. I'd also highly surprised if Weinzierl were to leave for Schalke of all places.
I totally would not be surprised if Weinzierl were to leave for a club with bigger resources that could challenge for bigger goals year-in and year-out. Augsburg punched way above their weight this year, and Schalke is still one of the biggest clubs in Germany with big bucks to spend. However, I'd agree that at the moment, you gotta be pretty desperate to sign with Schalke as manager right now. Seems to have done nothing but tarnish reputation of its managers recently.
Really puts perspective on him getting beaten for that long ball goal if his foot was that bad. http://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com...aid=3005179&cloc=joongangdaily|home|newslist2
For what it's worth the president Hofmann is quoted saying that there is no opt-out clause in Weinzierl's contract so the club has the final say and would let him leave only for big money anyway (but neither Weinzierl nor Schalke did ask Augsburg so far anyway, honestly sounds more like a classical Sommerloch story at this point).
KYG as well. He played injured & he is still struggling with injuries since the World Cup. i'm still trying to figure out why anyone would want to work for Heldt, unless you are some rejects like Di Matteo
He just extended his contract in April, without an opt-out clause. A bad agent if that were his doing.
I see no leverage, unless you mean the goal is to get a club to buy out Weinzierl for as much as possible.
I mean Schalke is probably actually desperate enough to pay a fee to act since the place is so toxic right now that they're willing to talk with Augsburg enough that the possibility that he'd leave would be real.
well, this story ended quickly. Weinzierl turned them down http://www.augsburger-allgemeine.de...leibt-Trainer-des-FC-Augsburg-id34364752.html
