But Florida already gets one of the Gold Cup matches. I think the PNW gets the Panama game in October and Charlotte gets the Costa Rica game on Labor Day weekend.
Charlotte? That's an odd thought. Charlotte will be hosting college football games that weekend in BofA Stadium, so I doubt that will be usable on Labor Day weekend.
Oh that's right I forgot the Belk Bowl does a kick off now too. Maybe they'll throw RFK a going away party (joke about DC saying this will be the last opening day there). Philly would be good or KC.
I think we'll have to see a soccer stadium host it that weekend. I'd push for Philly, but they're getting a Gold Cup QF and that kinda goes against your logic from a previous post about Orlando. I think USSF will try to find a Midwestern city for Costa Rica.
One of our best wins against Costa Rica was in Utah. Maybe that is an option? RFK for Panama has happened before too. Maybe it happens again.
I am going to go with my original gut feeling on Seattle and Kansas being the favorites. Although logistically it may be better to play Panama in Orlando due to the flight to T&T after the match.
Well, my surprise pick of Orlando got the nod. Did not see New Jersey coming at all but it is nice to see the NY/NC area get an official match.
Guessing well see a lottery for the New York match. This is probably why they feel comfortable now going to diverse metro areas.
If they are smart they will go to Red Bull and NYFC season ticket holders first. Then put the rest on public. I bet it will sellout and be pro-USA without needing to do a lottery. It is not like there are thousands of Panamanians that are a part of those fanbases.
Game is against Costa Rica in NYC. They'll do USSSC, AO, Sammers, lottery first just like last time. Then Red Bull's/NYCFC supporters. The problem they seem to have is filling up the midfield seats with those groups when they charge $300. Guessing the end line tickets are $125 for this game
Are you sure? I am hearing conflicting reports. Some are saying Costa Rica will be in Orlando. Either way there's not many fans that are a part of the fanbases of either Panama or Costa Rica in the States so a lottery might not be needed.
That's what the si link says. And like half the stadium in Tampa was Panamanian when we played them so yeah plenty of fans. Definitely will be lotteries.
Tampa and Orlando are different. With an MLS fan base that is enthusiastic in Orlando and Season Ticket base to filter from I think it would be very doubtful for Panama Supporters or Costa Rica Supporters to have a presence in that small Soccer Stadium. But we will agree to disagree.
Not to mention a World Cup Qualifier in the Hex stirs up more excitement than a Gold Cup in an NFL stadium.
Ouch, I hope not. I have never been to RBA or the new Orlando stadium, so that will make these games more special if I attend.
I dunno. The fed seems to be in short term money grab mood right now with everything. San Jose tickets were 86 or so and I can see them going higher for NYC market. Maybe not Orlando. I also haven't been to either stadium which is a major reason why I'll pay whatever to get in.
What is the better game to go to? The costa rica match since its better opposition? Also we might have qualification pretty much wrapped up by the time we get to Panama right?
