Did you know Chris Wondolowski was a 4:15 miler in high school?

If Wondo played on a decent team, he probably would have broken the record by now....

A "decent" team may have never given Wondo the chance or would have replaced him with the newest best thing.

Yeah, but Tarbell has been gaining ground over the course of the season. :)

I especially appreciated Besler's thoughts on how Wondo ALWAYS finishes his run and that's one of the reasons why he's always there to score.

Why the f*ck didn't Wondo start against the Red Bulls?

And in my mind, he'll always have an extra goal, because I'll never forget the one against Atlanta stolen from him by the corrupt VAR official. So, Wondo already has a share of the all-time record.

I believe this also makes it his 140th goal with the Earthquakes? Probably not going to see that again from another player anytime soon....

I'd love to see Wondo break the record with the Quakes but his contract is until: 12-31-2018. He has a 1 year option but I can't tell from this ownership are willing to give him what he is used to earning. I doubt he will accept going from making $800k to a paltry salary of say, $200k. I'm sure there are other teams across the league who would probably offer him a lot more than that. The next two games or even from October 28th until December 31st will be very interesting.

What if Wondo ends up tying, and then breaking, the record next season with the Los Angeles Galaxy in a California Clásico game against the San Jose Earthquakes either at Stanford Stadium or at whatever Avaya Stadium will be called by then?

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

If Alan Gordon going back to the Gals was bad, Wondo going to LA and breaking the record would be devastating for the Quakes. If that was the case and I was Fisher , I'd give Chris $1 million to save face...

How about just paying Wondo to stand on a pedestal and be a living statue like a San Francisco street Performer? It would be entertaining to watch people stand in front of him to have pictures taken and then see them freak out when he moves.

Have to assume he'll be retained to not only get the record, but also for coaching young forwards.

Yes, there is no way San Jose trades him away at this point. He is going to get the record, retire as a Quake, join the FO/coaching staff, and there will be a statue of him outside of Avaya. I still vote for the interactive Wondo statue that sprays water out of his mouth like his pregame ritual towards the Ultras.

At that point he will only get 8000 pennies as opposed to getting 800,0000 dollars....

He won’t be able to pay off his Los Gatos home!

What if in the aforementioned scenario, after Wondo scores the record-breaking goal against the Earthquakes in San José, Baby Judas saunters onto the field wearing a matching Galaxy jersey and congratulates Wondo with an LA bro hug?

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!! :(
