I did not say it has grown...but to paraphrase Mark Twain "It's demise has been greatly exaggerated". While there are more and arguably the most talented young American players signing pro deals at a younger age, that talent level has been more than made for with internationals who realize that the full value of approximately $300,000 per year of an American Scholarship is worth more than the $40,000 Homegrown Contract.... Look at this year's Generation Adidas... Two Right to Dream Ghanaians, an Englishman, a Portuguese, a German and a guy from Jersey (which if you add walk into a bar its the start of a bad joke)...

There have been minimum 68 programs cut. In the last 10 years, 38 have been cut. Of the 68 that have been cut (to my knowledge and documented since 1970), 7 have been reinstated and all of them were since 2006.

    Other notables since 2008:
    • 5 schools cut all athletics
    • 2 schools were mergers
    • 15 schools closed down completely
