If there is ever a BS user named Porus R., that's my illegal second account. There's something about that name that speaks to me.
I knew that when I sent just that link, which was hysterical that Good Ol' Porus is all, that's not a Google site, as if that somehow refuted the facts at hand. But I also knew that I could and would gather more and have an irrefutable deluge of facts for Mr. Supervisor, because I always over prepare for battle.
My wife had this boot cycle issue with her Pixel 1 a little while back. We lit into a few people and ended up with a new (non-refurbished was a demand) Pixel 2 for our "troubles". Not ideal in the fact that a lot was lost; my wife is very much like you with tons of reminders and other small things that are not stored in the cloud. We ended up settling there because she was in need of a phone and the one we reverted back to during all of this had a battery life of what felt like 30 minutes.
There's a poor soul in India named Manpreet who is still an object of hate around my office. And he works for our company in desktop support. If you use your phone for reminders, why not use a single calendar app for all of them? Google calendar will back up to the cloud. I use an I-phone and don't use Apple's calendar app because my schedule isn't Apple's business but if it's vital to you, why not?
Don't be evil indeed. Google is easily as bad as MS ever was. Too bad Apple treats their customers like idiots, too, and charges them for the privilege of being told. I'd say this is one of many inevitable consequences of even thinking about "net neutrality", but I won't go there.
