I guess I don't understand what harm pictures were doing. I dunno, maybe I missed something but except for the caption threads and the Kerry-looks-goofy-playing-sports threads I can't remember any pictures of note. Oh wait, there was that gay porn thing. But that was a long time ago and the good pictures were deleted.
It's not really a question of a harm (and it wasn't due to any one specific picture) - it's just an experiment me and Garcia want to try for a while, for a variety of reasons. It wasn't announced -- partly to gauge the reaction. And I was being cryptic because a) let's face it, Gringo brings out the smartass in all of us and b) I felt that any serious answer would result in the usual hostile back and forth ending in jokes and BBQ discussions as all politics threads seems to devolve into and I was vainly trying to avoid that. .
I'm not interested in being hostile. What I am interested in is being treated like an adult. Where do you and Garcia get off experimenting on us? There was no harm caused by posted pictures but you and Garcia just decided to ******** with us by taking that privledge away without notice or explanation just to see how we would ********ing react!!!!??? Barb - I do respect you and that's why I don't want to add any more fuel to the fire than is necessary. I apologize if you aren't crazy about the way it was introduced, but I figured that it was going to be unpleasant for some people no matter how it was handled. Like I said, it's a temporary situation so if you still hate it in a couple of weeks, let us know. The ironic thing is I have tons of customer service in my background.

If the reasoning behind the elimination of pictures was to save bandwidth then I have no problem with it. I've been getting a TON of server busy messages for the past month or so, many times 100 or more per day. Yeah, yeah, I know, buy the premium package and it will go away, blah, blah, blah. I don't want to be blackmailed into purchasing the package with phony server busy messages. So, if removing pictures saves bandwidth and resolves that issue for me then I'm all for it. If that was not the cause then there really was no reason for the move, other than to save us all from superdave's propensity to post soft gay porn.
