Given how poor most of the MLS clubs (in full season) have looked against the preseason out of shape EPL teams, Has the gap finally closed between Central American clubs and the MLS? I think the Central American teams would do much better against out of shape preseason EPL teams than the MLS has done thus far.
Depends on where in central America and what teams. I'll give you ES as an example because I follow them I see maybe 1 or 2 the max playing decently against Euro squads, but they'll always lose. Metapan would be a for sure who would give them a fight, but they'd be packed in their area the whole time for sure
Many would be humiliated worst. But,that's if you're looking into the bottom squads. That top of the table in places like CR, Honduras, Guatemala will play good Quality football against many European teams. To say they've regressed isn't true, but they haven't progressed as much either. It's more of who has a better academy that excels. RSL just signed two homegrown players who kill on the field, while weak ass galaxy goes and looks at South America to try and get a 'good forward' (I think his name is Samuel) while they have good quality in a player loaned out to Cruz Azul (Villarreal.) Not smart, and that's where the MLS gets stuck. You gotta learn to grow the players, not just sell to profit and buy shit players
I think the central american teams are getting closer to surpassing the MLS year by year, namely the Costa Rican and Honduran leauge
Considering the fact that you're referencing pre season EPL friendlies, I'm guessing this is nothing but a troll thread. Is there not enough rivalry threads already?
Central Am. teams need to do something more in CCL. It's always down to LMX vs MLS... Until that changes, it's still 1: LMX 2: MLS
True but what the debate here is that the central american club teams most notably the Honduran and Costa Rican leagues are catching up to the MLS, and this might be the year central american teams show up and give MLS teams a hard time for second place
Where is the logic in your post? Shouldn't a pre-season EPL team vrsing an in-season MLS team give you an advantage?
When you have huge players that can make a difference at any moment, compared to not so great players, not really. Are you really gonna tell me Keane> Rooney? Or Landon> Mata? You take out 2 or 3 players in the MLS teams and they're done. EPL teams are oozing with talent at every position.
Clown question, hombre. We do not compare to EPL and that is evident in the club valuations from both leagues. I think we (and Liga MX) both punch above our weight but MLS is definitely growing. Answer me this... Do you really want an MLS that is on par with the other American big 4 leagues in terms of market-share, mind-share, payroll, ownership plus the financial ability to attract talent from every corner of the globe? I didn't think so. It's coming within the next 20-30 years. I think MLS will eventually be stealing talent from Liga MX, depleting that league while kicking it's ass in CCL. It's only a matter of time.
That is your remains in the distant future when Mexico finally makes a quarterfinal in a world cup. All that Liga MX homegrown talent and just endless R16s to show for it. If we had your talent base we would win the WC every cycle.
Yeah guys I think the Costa Rican and Honduran club teams have a good chance of surpassing the MLS this year
costa rica league is better than mls srs saprissa, alajuelense, sv transvaal, olimpia, defence force > mls
yup but I guess you guys are too stupid to realize that defence force and olimpia are also not part of the costa rican league. but have more concacaf trophies than any mls team. ..woosh
yeah Id say Costa Rican league is the closest to surpass the MLS, I think they are going to do it this year in the CCL
