Anything more than zero, is a better job. Oh and not having to deal with NRod and Andi is the cherry on top.
They probably NEVER have to deal with Hauptman, as he is never there, other than once (around the first game of the season) to say, "Nice job, everybody." Hell, they probably rarely have to deal Rodriguez, as he hi-tails it back to New Jersey whenever he can.
By the way, we never updated the $125,000,000 price tag on their "minimalist palace" house (can't that sterile piece of crap a "home."). It sold for $85,000,000, a huge $40,000,000 mark down. Of course, they bought in 2002 for $20,750,000 so still a nice profit. https://www.mansionglobal.com/articles/bronfman-scion-sells-bel-air-manse-for-85-million-90854
What makes them "good people"? They have become nothing more than telemarketers. I would suspect that the job is pretty crappy at this point.
Well, it's the new year. Here's hoping that @bunge and @Jiggly_333 predictions of a sale materialize.
With the signing of Vejlko Paunovic to a "multiyear" deal, do we need to add to this thread: #MansuetoOut? He IS Co-Owner and Vice Chairman, afterall. (Note, I am not being serious about this statement, but it if he is interested in winning now, ainging Paunovic was a very, very bad move)
I know these were not directed at my posts, but I was not being serious when I was level criticism at Mansueto. While I think the time he has had as owner is more than enough to realize that Paunovic is a terrible choice to remain as coach, I also understand that he has a hell of a lot on his plate and this was the "easiest" decision to make (that is, to make no decision). I am not willing to give him, or anyone connected to the current crap storm that is the Chicago Fire, until 2021 to change the culture, however, I do think giving him a bit of time makes sense. I give him until mid-summer, one year after buying his stake in the team. By way of comparison, when Hauptman took control of the Fire in Sept. 2007, we had just appointed Osorio as coach. As we all know, his wife wanted to move to New York, so off he went after 15 games (he managed to go 6-3-6 (7-5-7 in all competitions) in that time, so he had only one fewer win that Paunovic had in his entire first season and just two less than this season). With Osorio leaving (and the Fire receiving compensation from New York), Hauptman made the "easy decision" and appointed Hamlett as coach. Hauptman's first real decision was firing Guppy in 2008 and then hiring Leon (interim) and then the abortion that was Dave Greeley as President/GM/Grand Pooba/Etc. Hauptman has made bad decisions with each and every decision he has made (other than hiring Frank Klopas as head coach, that was an acceptable decision). His main decisions- Head Coach: Hamlett CDLC Klopas Yallop Paunovic That is a whole lot of suck at head coach. President/Czar: Leon (interim) Greeley Leon (interim) Posada Rodriguez That is a putrid pile of humanity leading this team. Greeley and Posada had no experience running soccer teams. Greeley had been openly hostile to soccer when he was with the Bears. Posada ran Spanish language newspapers. Leon was a banker, then worked with Chivas USA and then to Andell. He did stay with Andell, and, thus, the Fire for almost 5 years. He runs a "sports financial solutions group" company now. We all know Rodriguez' "stellar" accomplishments with New York, Chivas USA and now the Fire. Mansueto needs to step in and stop the rot. He needs to do by this summer. If changes are not in the works, then I will be concerned. Improvements take time, but what we are all asking for is progress. Signing Paunovic to a multi-year contract is not a sign of progress.
The above quoted is exactly how I feel. We've put up with the bullshit for far too long and I'm not willing to wait until 2021 or 2020. The time to act is now.
This is the last thread on the first page. Unacceptable. Either buy some players for this miserable team or sell your 51%.
