If he isn’t better than Navas now, he will surely be better in a couple of years. Courtois is the future, buying him was a smart investment.
So you don't think Keylor should get some minutes in what amounts to a couple of meaningless friendless during the club world cup as a good faith gesture and reward for his service at the club (and his role in winning the CL which qualified the team for the CWC which Courtois had no part of).
Don't pretend like ZO5 and others calling you out on years of nonsense is about one post or one convoluted point. You're a constant negative on this forum. You and one or two others make us long for the days of Demogorgon.
Courtois: “Simeone criticises Real Madrid just so that he can be popular with his fans. He always does it, attacking Real Madrid for being the best in the world.” 😂🤣I don’t care, TBO is already a fookin’ legend. https://t.co/kFEBp9rGUW— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) December 15, 2018
He's been great these past few games. It seemed like many people had already given up on him partly due to their pity for Navas but some genuinely believed that he isn't a great GK.
Yeah, the pity towards Keylor was definitely a big part of it. Football fans all suffer from short term memory, Keylor was dreadful last season, his UCL campaign reminded of Casillas' in La Decima.
Keylor started rocky and ended the season in fantastic form. To say he was "dreadful" means you stopped watching last season in October. Courtois has been good the last week and a half. Seemingly getting better and more confident. He still needs to handle aerial balls better, but we have kept cleansheets due to his saves and less so our defense.
IMO they are both very good keepers, sentiment for Keylor is obvious, he’s the one who’s won titles with us already, only to be benched, Courtois has done well, as I expected him to do, although I did not think as much of him at Chelsea as I did when he was at that other Madrid club, it’s a good problem to have in terms of the keepers, TC is the future , Keylor, one of my favorite players on the squad, will have to make a decision at some point.
Is Keylor on strike. No, oh okay good. Looks like Solari dodged a bullet because a lesser man would have made this incredibly awkward.
How many muscle injuries is that for our team now? Perhaps new physios should be added to our transfer wish list.
I'm starting to wonder if this Pintus dude is running the team to the ground with his "training camps".
I don't know maybe it's that. All theae muscular injuries makes me believe there is issues with fatigue. That or this guy literally do nothing in terms of recovery after practices and matches. Do we ice them, stem them and massage after sessions? Doesn't look like it.
When GKs start getting muscular injuries you know something is wrong. My theory is that since Pintus didn't have the training camp with the players in the beginning of the season he decided to do it in the middle when he was brought back which messed up a lot of the players' routine. All muscular injuries. Something is wrong somewhere.
We didn't have this load of injuries under Zidane. I would say it's more because they didn't work with Pintus in pre season. Didn't Lope bring his own Physio?
It was a one on one with acres of space. The defence and the offside line was at fault if we are gonna blame someone. The Morata offside goal was the scene he did awful. This video is the type of shots that Courtois saves better than Navas IMO.
GKs are asked to make themselves big when the attacker had both sides to choose when on 1v1. Navas conceded one through the legs recently in same situation. This was not like Messi goal Courtois conceded on near post. Iker has conceded many through his legs when making himself big on 1v1 too. They are not to blame when exposed to a situation like that. Incredible if they can save the team in a situation like that. That's it. Courtois made the save in same situation in the first derby at Bernabeu. It's the risk a GK has to take coming out.
