Shakhtar is basically third in their CL group every year, and they'd destroy the mls teams.

I've been slammed doing sales and wearing a bizdev hat lately so I haven't had much time to post...I'll try to do it within the next couple of days...it revolves around obnoxious nads chanting USA shit during the final and me being fed up with it and calling them out...I bet one of them posts on the nads forums...lol

Since Americans love Public relations, they should know the reason everyone on this side of the world thinks they're a joke is because they hardly ever want anything to do with Copa America or play against South American teams. They think getting beat by Ukraine in Cyprus is going to give them worldwide recognition. They just play against the team (Mexico) that plays against South America in club and intertional levels and try to beat them to boost their egos.

For Europeans, they are a decent bunker team with no real league. For the Americas they are bunkering cowards who don't play real football with no real league.

You do realize about 50% of American players play in Europe so its easier travel and thats why the US plays alot of games over there and also for quality opponents. For example lets say the US schedules Colombia in Bogota or Dallas, both teams main players will be tired/not as sharp as they would be since they are flying the atlantic midweek sandwiched by weekend club games so the quality of the game goes down. And most south american teams main group of players play in europe and so they might not want them to travel for a friendly, so then they field a more domestic side to get others a shot but that also doesnt allow for the NT's to take full advantage of the friendly. Mexico can/does play a lot more in the Americas because a decent chunk of the core players/fringe starters play in Mexico so not as much travel and its part of the reason Mexico ends up playing Ecuador/Bolivia and countries like that.

You kind of have a valid point but why not schedule against tougher opposition and not scrubs like Germany's D-team, Austria or Scotland.
The games in Bosnia and against Belgium are good examples.

Also your argument would be valid but Mexico has 7 or 8 players in based Europe with Costa Rica having more players in the Nordic leagues than locally. Plus you look at South American teams with a vast majority of their players in Europe or Mexico and it doesn't bother them to fly back to South America.

Well the German D-team one was kind of influenced by Borrusia Dortmund and Munich in the Champions League final, Scottland/Austria is more to gage we each team stands, also a possibilty the US couldnt agree with another nation, but most likely because it would be the most even matchup so the best way to evaluate the talent. Of course if the US didnt also schedule France/Italy/Belgium and it became a habit to purely schedule mid-weaker teams in euro than that would be dumb.

And good point about Mexico having a good bit of players in euro as well, but at the same time the only *lock* starters *before* the WC were Moreno, Gio and Cheech (didnt happen for him) the rest were in battle for their spots Ochoa/Corona, Herrera/Montes/Gullit/Fabian/Vasquez, and Guardado was a last minute fillin as well since Gullit dropped in form. So its a good point but the majority starters prior to the WC (when the friendlies are played) were based in Liga MX.

Now of course Mexico should take advantage of the small world we live in now to schedule friendlies against European squads in europe, African squads in Africa just to constantly be playing against a different style of soccer so the adaption doesnt have to occur only weeks before the WC.

When the US lost to Ukraine in March, all that was heard is how the loss didn't matter because most starters were in MLS including the top players (Dempsey, Bradley). Then when the US "won" that friendly against Mexico (because that was the week when games suddenly were decided by the result after the 1st half), it was even bigger. Suddenly now because the Germericans looked better and Bradley stunk, it's all about the Europe based players for the US?

I am always mind boggled how some Americans come with this argument all the time, while their own ancestors were also immigrants/foreign people, as were actually nearly all people in Nort America minus the native folk.

Retarded argument defines their knowledge and self-respect really.

Have to take into account the amount of dumb fans each fanbase has, for the US it sticks out more because its a website in english, but each friendly matters, maybe not in results but just how the team flows and how certain players fit together etc. Also its pretty easy to just lump in a fanbase into one when everyone has different opinions and some just post to troll/annoy other fanbases so it makes the smart level headed ones.
