Maybe the smart thing to do if Canouse (and probably DeLeon) get healthy, is to trade Moreno? Canouse will play some 8 and Durkin will get his, I think. Moreno is a good player, but represents an international slot better used acquiring an even better player who's a RB or CB. With Arriola, Rooney, Canouse and Harkes all capable 8s, I don't think Segura's a must-keep, either.
With 1.5 seasons left on his deal he won’t be here much longer. Better to take the cash than watch him leave on a free.
They can probably get more for him next summer. Especially if he gets some time at Nats camp this winter, which I suspect he will.
