For what its worth the game was entertaining...

Can't expect much from a team whose best player is Elias Hernandez

But if Osorio can find a holding mid and a couple of fullbacks in this Gold Cup then I'll consider it a success.

Other notes: Edson Alvarez looks special, even though Tinkerman 2.0 played him out of position.

 

Edson playing out of position still did better than our "captain." As I said earlier, he actually saved his ass several times.

Still think Dedos should be playing there, though.

 

Hopefully he has some professional dignity, knows that this gimmick failed, and steps aside like Gus Johnson did.

 

I saw a 3-4-3 with Marin-Ayala-Edson as the 3 CBs, Burrito-Dueñas as the two CMs, Gallardo and Reyes as the wing backs and Pizarro, Barragan and Elias up top.

Neither Reyes nor Gallardo played as fullbacks yesterday. Maybe the tv guys mentioned it and that's why people are talking about it because I see no other reason why this would be an issue. They both were below average, especially Gallardo who had the entire right side to himself since Pizarro pinched in towards the center, and did nothing with the space provided to him.

Edson played out of position? Pretty sure I've seen him play as the right CB at America when they played with 3 CBs. He did well I think.

Crowd was wild though, these Cali paisas sure know how to have fun.

People were bitching about Gallardo and Reyes playing as fullbacks when the lineups were announced and throughout the first half.

Even when Gallardo was moved back, and I will defer to you guys on this since the second half was a shit show from the stands (fights, desmadre, etc), he had the entire first half as a wingback and nothing much came from it, same with Luis Reyes. So the criticism about players playing out of position, specifically in this case, seems like bitching for the sake of bitching.

Playing Marin and Ayala together, now that is something we can all get on board as a continuously stupid decision.
