I know the final is set for LA, but where will the other venues be? I believe CONCACAF stated they would announce in early 2011, but any speculations? Or cities you'd like to see host?
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? You can bet your life on Home Depot Center, Soldier Field, Cowboys Stadium, Reliant Stadium, and the New Meadowlands Stadium. I'd like to see Red Bull Arena used as well. Some of the non-mexican games getting 20-25 thousand should be played here. The atmosphere and intimacy would be so much better than in one of the massive NFL stadiums. Plus it's such a sexy venue! State of the art beauty.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? I would like to see the big stadiums used for knockout stage matches, and the SSS for first round matches. NY/NJ, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Houston???, Kansas City, Philly...those all have both larger stadiums and SSS.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? I highly doubt Kansas City will get games. The Gold Cup tends to stick to the regions with the highest concentrations of competitors' diaspora. Last year they had some games in Columbus and those were by far the worst attended with only 7000. All other games got over 15k.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? There are rumors that Detroit is trying to get at least a group stage game at the Silverdome. Also would not mind a USA game at the Georgia Dome or Baltimore.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Oh I totally understand. I'd love to see LA, NY, Chicago and Dallas host QF/SF/F spots. And their smaller stadiums host the group matches. Of course, Philly and B-More would be nice. Atlanta would be best
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Living only about 3 hours from Detroit, I really hope they put Canada in there. I would love to go and see that.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Miami's been a host venue for each of the last two Gold Cups, but now that the Orange Bowl is gone...I don't know how fondly teams would be looking forward to playing on FIU's turf again. Although the Ticos and Canadians show up in numbers there, it must be said.

Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Well based on this I think it is safe to say : Mexico will play games in Arlington, Carolina and Chicago & USA will play games in Detroit, Tampa and KC. Honduras/El Salvador/both would be my guess to be in Carson, Miami, New Jersey. (Assuming one or both qualify of course.)
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Good analysis. You can definitely add Jamaica to the Carson/Miami/RBA group.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Woot! Crossing fingers that the U.S. plays one of their group round games in Tampa. I plan to go to whatever games we get, but we want the U.S.!
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? I hope that RBA gets a usa game a usa game at the best sss in the usa wood be neat.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? My guess would be that SUM sends the US here as a reward for people showing up to the El Salvador friendly.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? It would, but I highly doubt that the US would be willing to play on FIU's turf field before then. More likely, if the US and Mexico both win their groups, you'll probably get to have Mexico fill up the New Meadowlands Stadium again for their quarterfinal.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? I think you can take it to the bank that the US will be in the third group playing in Detroit, Tampa, and KC. The first group is structured to pander to Mexicans while the second group includes two cities where the yanks are not a draw. The third group has a pair of heartland venues (Detroit and KC) lacking foreign diaspora plus Tampa where the US have drawn well before.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Nice, I'm going to try to be in attendance for the Tampa and RFK Stadium games.
Re: Gold Cup 2011--USA Venues?? Definitely, with all three venues. Check out the Mexicans turning Charlotte into a mini-Azteca: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKTZBB1ExJc"]YouTube - Mexico vs Islandia 0-0 Amistoso Rumbo Sudafrica 2010 HQ [24-03-2010] Azteca deportes[/ame]
