Newcastle 0-4 Manchester United (Tahith Chong x2, Largie Ramazani, James Garner) #U23 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/OjxoXTMD5I— Fabio (@FabioProd) August 23, 2019 Btw, in 3 games so far this season, Garner has already logged 4 goals and 2 assists. Think it's a pretty safe bet that he'll probably get called for EL and League Cup games coming up pretty soon
Gomes is playing for the u23s tonight. Guess he won’t be involved tomorrow. Chong and Garner not involved, though.
Disappointing re Gomes (Ole will go the safe route with Mata probably), but there is talk that Garner is travelling with the first team to the south coast, which is interesting. No Mellor either up front.
Close to 20mins in, still no score but good game. Gomes has been excellent once so far, literally running United's attack and linking well with the front players. As stated above, he's way past playing in the youth team and needs to be given a shot with the first team soon (especially following Sanchez's departure). And he scores! Well deserved following his very bright start.
Dont worry guys, Jesse runs around a lot and sometimes touches the ball 3 or 4 passes before we score. We're fine.

WH have scored shortly before the half and it's 1-1, following a crisp counter. First goal conceded by this team in the league btw. Concerns about Gomes's height are pretty unfounded at this point for me. Yes he is pretty short (although he looks probably closer to 5'5 than the 5'3 he's said to be) but he looks pretty strong. He does have the ability to ride tackles and while he gets fouled pretty often, he doesn't tend to stay down. Plus he's very confident and just fearless There is obviously a difference at senior level, but he's not some skinny kid who gets shoed off the ball easily. And at the end of the day, more than height, strength is what matters most. it's not like he's a CB or goalkeeper where height can be a legitimate issue. Becoming harder to think Mata would be a better option than him.
Levitt was excellent in the first 25-30 minutes in particular. Really inventive, clever passing from deep. Brandon Williams was bright too. Shame we lost control of the game in the last 20 minutes, we're missing the quality of decision making on the flanks otherwise we'd have been 2 goals up.
I agree but that's what he's still listed as everywhere one looks for some reason. But it's pretty obvious he's nowhere that short (not that it matters anyway)... At the back, Williams has been proper today. Another player I want to see test himself very soon at the next level just to see how he handles it.
Elanga, Ramazani and Traore are a good level below and are costing us control. Really poor decision making and execution since the opening 25. The lack of Chong, Greenwood and Garner is showing a bit.
Gomes having to come off following an earlier, pretty heavy challenge. Looks like he's hurt his ankle: tried to go on but eventually had to make way. Let's hope it's nothing too serious as he was having himself a fine display today. WH score the goal ahead goal. Easily the worst half we've seen from this team so far, very disjointed/stop-start stuff. In midfield, Galbraith and Levitt have not been bad (more like inconsistent) and it seems pretty clear that Garner (with his poise and control) has been sorely missed. Ramazini (goal # 3 or 4 now for the season?) scores the equalizer. Good job on the team to try and salvage something from this. FT: 2-2. As mentioned the less impressive game from that group so far but still a pretty entertaining game, with enough positives still to be taken away. Can't forget that lots of players were missing and this was a pretty young side. Gomes's injury is the clear downer here...
Shave his head and stand them side by side and I bet you this picture looks much different. Theres no chance Gomes is above 5'5". None. Pogba is listed at 6'3". Gomes doesn't even come up to his shoulder. https://www-thesun-co-uk.cdn.amppro...godfather/amp?amp_js_v=0.1&usqp=mq331AQCKAE=#

Didn't know he was still with us. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has completed a loan move to Tranmere Rovers for the remainder of the 2019/20 season. #MUFC #MUAcademy— Manchester United (@ManUtd) September 2, 2019
Very likely that it's his last season as a United player, with his contract about to run down this term. Speaking of LBs, I wonder it Mitchell will at least secure a loan move himself today.
That was a bit unexpected. #MUFC defender Lee O’Connor has joined Celtic for an undisclosed fee. The teenager has signed a four-year deal with the Scottish champions pic.twitter.com/ST5f3xij4o— Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) September 2, 2019
Big congratulations to #MUAcademy midfielder Ethan Galbraith, who made his senior international bow for Northern Ireland last night 👏👏📸: @NorthernIreland pic.twitter.com/EcyodGxDwI— Manchester United (@ManUtd) September 6, 2019 Came on at the very end of the game vs Luxembourg yesterday (at the 88th min), but still was nice for him, at just 18, to be selected for his first senior cap. Good news also on the Gomes front: the injury that forced him out of the recent game vs WH was not enough to keep him from playing for England's U20s yesterday.
U23 lineup vs Fulham: Kovar; Williams, Mengi, Fish, McGhee; Garner, Galbraith; Ramazani, Levitt, Elanga; Mellor. Subs: Woolston, Hockenhull, Helm, Wellens, Hoogewerf.
