Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc hailed Weigl’s performance against the bulls by describing it as “flawless”. He completed 95% of his passes along with 9 clearances, 2 interceptions, and 69 touches. Zorc also shut down the rumors of him transferring to Thomas Tuchel’s PSG.

In an interview with ZDF he said, “He (Julian Weigl) will stay in Dortmund. He has already played very well against Gladbach before the winter break and once again showed a brilliant performance tonight, especially when keeping in mind that he usually plays in midfield.”

Weigl has proved his versatility by rising to the occasion by not only shutting out RB Leipzig handing them their first home defeat of the season so far, but also adapting to a new position after playing as a defensive midfielder for most of his career. Rising to the occasion when it matters most is what Borussia Dortmund need from their players this season. Perhaps there is more to come from the 23-year-old midfielder.

“For me, centre-back is something of a new position,” he stated after the game against Leipzig. “I’m fighting my way into the role, and I’m trying to help the team. I’m really happy that we kept a clean sheet, and took the three points with us.”

However next question is whether Weigl will still want to leave in the summer or will Dortmund keep him

Engels with 1 goal and 2 assists in Dutch 2nd division in a 6-2 win.

Uth scored his 2nd goal of the season to make it 2-1 in an eventual 2-2 draw. Assist by Oczipka.

I liked how Uth constantly was defending not just attacking.

    Not bad at the “6”

He scored against Chievo last week, but this week he’s playing deeper

Wagner's arrogance was his downfall. Player that was underachieving for so long, who finally worked hard enough to be considered good enough and relevant, and finally fell off at the very end.

well that's the only good news about Weigl as a cb is that it'll improve his defensive play while also increasing his physicality. So when he goes back to DM, he won't be the exact same player as before. As a cb he's forced to take on strikers head on.
