I presume NY Hoop has been real stubborn and travelled to Tbilisi to watch it together with the rest of the 'real' fans (his mate and their shadows).

I highly doubt NY Hoop or many other Irish folks would want to be in Tbilisi right now

    good result....great feed, thanks Hashim.

Whelan was a bit lucky, but Keane should of had the second when he hit the post. Too bad about the late goal, could be important if the group comes down to goal difference, Given was gutted one got by him. Well we're off to a good start.

I am proud to be Irish-American today. It did me good to see the Irish pass well and actually outplay an opponent and not the crap we saw under Staunton(1-0 vs. Slovakia and Wales at home at 2-2 vs. Slovakia on the road.) I want nothing more, club or country than to see the Irish qualify for South Africa.

Was a good start but could have been so much better only for late goals saving both Bulgaria and Italy.

Yeah, it would have been amazing if Italy had been held to a draw in Cyprus. But at the same time it asks the question of whether Italy were really poor in that game, or were Cyprus really good, I still have bad memories of how they embarrassed us last year.

Does anyone know much about Montenegro? They got a draw against a decent Bulgarian side on Saturday, I'd imagine this will be a much, much harder game than the one against Georgia in a hostile atmosphere.

Holy crap, it is the opposite of me, living in Ireland and liking the USA (except you don't completely despise Ireland and the LoI and all its fans)

yip this is gonna be a tough one id say i dont av a great feeling about it, montenegro are only a low seed cos they are new, 6 home games with only 1 loss, mirko vucinic their striker and captain is a real real threat, plays with roma, they have a habit of leaking stupid goals tho so hopefully we can get at them, it would be amazin to have 6 points on the road with 3 home games to come, i know its early days with trapp but for once i feel like we actually are organised and will be in the shake up come the end of this group, 3 points tonite would be brilliant but 1 wouldnt be a disaster since bulgaria drew there at the weekend, saw cyprus italy at the weekend, cyprus were robbed that is gonna be a very tough trip

Jaysus... the Montenegran anthem is flat-out scary!

BTW, Kilbane's 50 consecutive international caps has only been matched by Theo Zagorakis & Billy Wright in the history of the game. Fair play. A mystery to us all how he managed at times, but still fair play.

Reminded me of some kind of Soviet Union anthem from about 60 years ago.

It really is hard to believe it when you consider how poor his form was about 2 years ago, but still, well done to him, he's been pretty decent in defense recently.

    0-0 F/T

Decent result, 4 points from 6 is a good start. Have to say that the defense was amazing, Montenegro didn't have a shot on target until around the 75 minute mark, O'Shea and Dunne were solid.

I'll take the point happily, but ideally we would have 1-0ed it there at the end.

Agree with what has been said so far. I didnt see the first half hour but I was impressed by the performance. Solid in the back and Whelan has been a reveltion with Reid in midfield. McGeady had a few bright points but also should have done a lot better with his chance in the second half. Hunt is a very frustrating player. He fights hard and wins the ball but the next second he gives it away. O'Shea had a great game.

Would have liked the 3 points but the good point is that we are miving in the right direction compared to the clowns last year.
