@bungadiri or @dark knight, can we merge this thread (https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/george-acosta-at-boca-juniors.2082434/#post-36483371) into the present one and rename this thread George Acosta at Boca Juniors. Thanks!
Nothing on George this summer. Anybody know anything about how he's doing? @Eighteen Alpha, you hear anything?
I've seen nothing. He's not on any game day or squad rosters for reserves or youth. But they haven't updated their site since the clausura so we may see him once the apertura starts.
I take that back. I was looking at the page wrong. He was playing with the quintas, the U-18 or penultimate category, shortly after arriving there.

It appears George Acosta got the assist for his Boca Juniors youth team in a 1-1 draw. https://t.co/KOlNhKh5JH— Daniel (@DanielSmith1022) August 14, 2018
Nice to see him starting for his U-18 side. No small feat on the best youth squad in Argentina (they have won the championship 13 times). Even Alan Sonora rarely started when he was there, despite (or perhaps due to) his father being youth technical director.

It's exciting having a prospect like Acosta in one of the best academy's in the world... How cool would it be to watch a USMNT player star for a club like Boca in la bombonera playing Libertadores or el clasico vs River Plate?
I don't think many clubs in Argentina or Brazil are scouting our kids too much. Not sure what the int'l (or if there's non-South American) player limits are in those countries either. Acosta's father is Colombian.
It seems, without actually knowing for sure, that certain academies have informal ties with South American clubs and occasionally get try outs for kids.
I believe that he socred: #Juveniles | #Quinta ¡Terminó el partido en Mar del Plata! Aldosivi 0- #Boca 1. George Acosta fue el autor del gol del triunfo. 📷 @giangiustra pic.twitter.com/t82ntmooyA— Boca Juniors (@BocaJrsOficial) August 25, 2018

Nice goal! I always liked Acosta. He seemed to me to be a true number 10 when played in the world cup. We don't produce too many of those, but Argentina does...
Gianluca Giustra @giangiustra An Argentine sportswriter tweeted this about George: Le pongo todas mis fichas a George Acosta. El 10 de la quinta de Boca es una joyita. Revulsivo, desfachatado y sobretodo talentoso. A seguirlo muy de cerca. "I'm putting all my chips on George Acosta. The '10' for Boca's fifth [division] is a little gem. Impactful, cheeky and above all talented. Follow him closely."
Looks like Acosta's goal with the Quinta caught the attention of Argentine sports publication Olé, who did this piece on him: ¡Miami dónde estoy! Here are a few new bits of info I gleaned from the article: Father is Colombian, mother is American. Didn't speak much Spanish before arriving in Argentina, but has been learning it by speaking with teammates. Was brought to Boca Jrs by youth coach Claudio Vivas, who knew him from his time at Estudiantes de la Plata. (Vivas is also known for being the long-time assistant of Marcelo "Loco" Bielsa) Admirer of Ronaldinho and Riquelme. Dreams of continuing to represent the USA.
