What? No. I expect him to die in some major naval battle against Theon and Asha. Be crazy if he did though. There was just a ton of great scene's last night. I loved the back to back of Sansa/Jon with Cersei/Jamie, the Hounds inner struggle with why he is alive. I am a total sucker for every scene the leader of Bear Island is in, I love that young girl and every time Lady Mormont speaks I wanna roar out in agreement. couple of thread etiquette questions. 1. We can discuss the episodes in this thread right? I see no {R} and just want to make sure not to step on anyones toes. 2. At this point is there really any reason for book/no book talk? I can not really think of anything from the books being of any real value from this point on in the show.
Yes on 1, not sure about 2. I thought the episode was good....not great, but also solid. Sets up the season nicely.
I think the biggest unknown this season is Little Finger. Everyone else is aligned, or headed towards it Little finger thought he had it made by saving Sansa, but then she supported Jon as did everyone else. I see him switching sides a couple more times. Until Briane just takes him out
I thought it was a solid season premiere, but nothing more than that. I don't think anyone will remember it as one of their favorite episodes. When I think back to the scenes I liked best, most of them aren't with the big power players or massive in scope: - Arya's revenge on House Frey - The montage where Samwell Tarly empties bedpans, shelves books and serves broth - Arya's scene with the Lannister soldiers - The entire Hound scene with Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr I think only Arya's revenge on House Frey counts as a major moment. The rest of them were more fun than really impactful.
I have some idea of what Euron's gift might be. But it falls within the scope of book knowledge, though it is a plot I thought they would no longer use. Book spoiler of the speculative variety inside (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Book spoiler of the speculative variety inside (open) Book spoiler of the speculative variety inside (close) Basically there is supposedly a horn which could destroy the Wall. It's call the Horn of Winter and in the books, it is believed to be in Euron's possession (he give a demonstration with a magical horn during the Kingsmoot). Now, one possible play for someone as Machiavellian as Cersei (and really also Euron) would be to actually use the horn. Thus allowing White Walkers to stream into the North, opening up a second front that would leave the Northern's exposed from the South.
With every major male Frey figure now dead I am expecting to see the return of Edmure Tully at some point.
I think the Hound having a vision in the fire and thus leading the probable future direction of the Brotherhood was impactful.
That image of Beric Dondarrion lighting his sword on fire does suggest they will be facing off against White Walkers later this season.
Not that I'm biased @wossy .. BUT I find myself agreeing with you ..... pic.twitter.com/tzdoAt1DiC— lena headey (@IAMLenaHeadey) July 17, 2017
Yep, he took the dude's silver and left them for dead ... took me a minute to realize WHY they showed that particular scene in the preshow recap.
I was looking at a map of Westeros, could Euron's armada really sail past Dany's armada? Besides I couldn't see at this point in the show them finally giving Euron Greyjoy that important of a spot in the battle. I expect his naval battle lose to be a catalyst for Cersei to reach out to Littlefinger and make a deal. This would be extra reason to get Sansa involved in the game in the south instead of just being an advisor to Jon. The Starks do have ties to both the Eyrie and Riverrun, through the Tullys.
Good thing I had no idea who Ed Sheeran was cause the scene didn't bother me at all. I have become obsessed with this idea of Euron going off to get Gendry because I can not think of one benefit Cersei gets from having one of Roberts bastards.
I was the same, saw the complaints before I watched the episode, got to that scene and was like "Meh, never seen that guy before in my life."
That I could see being more likely. It would make sense geographically (I know I really should dump caring bout travel distances, but I got this map right here at my desk that I keep looking at.) and is someone Cersei would love to have. Though even then I don't see Cersei considering the capture of Tyrion being enough for her hand in marriage. Not with how surrounded she is with enemies. If Euron doesn't attack Dany directly the only other military benefit he can give Cersei is to take Dorne and/or Highgarden.
http://verysmartbrothas.com/is-arya-stark-the-only-white-person-with-a-100-black-approval-rating/ This made me crack up.
So Theon's alive, but is his sister dead? Was that her hanging from the front of the ship? At least we know what the "gift" is, it's the queen of Dorn. Arya is heading for Sansa, she will probably be the one to kill Littlefinger! Where oh where will Theon re-emerge? My guess is with the Stark's, things going in circles.
