No idea what 3G will do, but I'd like to see...

    Arriola - Sargent - Morris
    LLetget - McKennie

That's a quality XI that should be able to handily beat Canada on home soil.

I like that one as well as what to expect, though I think that Gregg will come out with this:

With all the press that Morales has gotten in the lead up to this game, expect him to be sitting squarely in the 6 hole. Not that I think that's a mistake, in fact, I think that gives us the best chance of slowing down the Canadian attack. I just wish we had a better defined midfield role for Weston in this scheme.

I feel terrible saying it.... but I have lost all confidence in this team. Not feeling good at all about our chances tonight based on recent form and the lack of CP to provide a creative spark. I hope they prove me wrong.

Why does everyone have Yueill starting, when we have a Bundesliga starter/veteran in camp? I, and many others, have been asking for him to take over the 6 role for years now, and instead we're throwing in a young MLS guy?

Or is this just the thinking on what Egg will do (ie. "Morales was in camp, didn't perform well enough to see the field, he got his chance, now back to MB"?)

As a Canada fan, my biggest worry tonight is that we underestimate the USA.

Herdman has proven to be a good motivator and the team is dialed in by all accounts, but when your opponent is missing their best player, it can be tempting to take your foot off the pedal.

This team needs to get a result on the road and Canada traditionally struggles to do that.

For now I am cautiously optimistic, but if they can pull it off tonight, I will finally believe we have turned the corner.

Given how bad the US is at the moment, your worries are severely misplaced. Confidence in the program is in negative territory. It might even be absolute 0 degrees Kelvin.

Agreed. Weston is not harnessed to full capacity.

    I also agree on Morales.

    It's what I expect.

Berhalter wants a regista. Morales is not a regista.

Proud to announce that this will be the first USMNT game that my newborn son, who is still in the NICU, will get to experience. I'll bring my iPad in there and get it going next to his bassinet.

So US men...go out there and make this one one that will be great to recount to him a few years down the line, please.

They won't be overconfident... they actually hired a good coach. You know, the kind of coach that can scheme according to opponent and get the most out of his players. We have a coach that thinks he is a genius and has his players completely uncomfortable and unprepared on the pitch. It will likely only get worse for the US... but Canada is headed in the right direction.

BTW... If the US loses today are we going to start getting close to the place that Canada is in?... I.e. on the cusp of missing top 6 WC Qualifying Hex?

Isn't Hex qualifying based on FIFA ranking, in which case the US would have to fall from 23rd to 73rd?

We will be getting close to the point when Euro based players will start looking for excuses not to come. Then the thread "What's wrong with USA team?" will be open at Canadian soccer forum.

    Some guarantees for tonight :

Tim Ream will $hit the bed for 15th straight game, get scored on and Doyle at MLS Marketing will tell us all about his line busting passes!

also probably see a very good team effort now that Messi and Pirlo are sitting this one out.

Yeah but your players will still want to go out and prove themselves, so it won't be easy. Morris, Mckennie and even Sargent - these are good players. This game has trap door written all over it.

Canada is going to have to be focused and set the tone early.

And despite what 3G is doing down there, it's a game of soccer at the end of the day. Momentum can shift in a hurry during a game. All it takes is one goal, one save, sometimes even one tackle.

I think it's going to be a very tough game for both teams and it can go either way.

We will, probably, beat both Canada and Cuba. It does not really matter which players in our pool we play because, except for one or two players, we are better spot by spot than the Canadians.

Of course Berhalter ( the coach my 12 year old granddaughter calls "Mr. Stupid" ) is perfectly able to set up the players so they lose anyway but I do not think even he can lose this one.
