With both Wingert and Horst on the backline, you have two defenders with a propensity to get beat with diagonal balls in behind.

 

Two thoughts 20 minutes in:

1. The pace of this game has my eyes glued to the screen.
2. Alan Chapman is center ref? We're screwed.

Bonus: what the hell was that, Yura?

 

Yikes. Looked like Nick had it covered, but that had a spin to it I think.

 

Nice goal by Yura. And Wingert.

I couldn't tell if it was Yura or Wingert or even, perhaps, an own goal. But we're level.

Wingert and Yura combine to put RSL on the scoreboard. Ugliest goal of the season, but best comedic karma.

Edit: after replay, attributing it to Yura seems very questionable

 

It doesn't look like Yura even hit it on the replay.

 

No it doesn't, and it's gonna be Wingert's goal. But make no mistake, that goal does not happen without Yura's efforts.

 

Now official: Chris Wingert gets his second career MLS goal. Congrats to Chris. He seems like a genuinely kind human.

 

Nobody celebrated the goal with Yura until Sunny walked up to him around midfield. Is the team done with Yura? Really weird goal non celebration though. I have the sound off listening to BYU-Utah and I didn't know if the goal counted until the kickoff because of the lack of anyone acting like there was a goal.

 

I think there was some doubt because the official wasn't giving the goal signal, waiting for video review on if Yura was offside.

What I thought I saw: the ball was going in off Wingert's foot, and just grazed Yura's head/hair. You see Yura's hair 'fluff', but the ball's spin doesn't change. I think it goes to Wingert because Yura didn't change the flight of the ball.

 

Second time tonight I am scratching my head that Nick didn't do better on a 'Caps goal. That one was flat out weird.

 

So close from Glad.

Good sub of Luke in for Sunny, who has been giving the ball away cheaply all night long.

 

Nick is not who he used to be, by enough that everyone should be noticing. The real question is if he's still better than a replacement keeper that could be available.

Looks like I interpreted the data erroneously: @goobx1 needed to keep sending me a new shirt before every RSL game in order to ensure the win. Ah, well, too late now.

What a weird game scoring wise. Goals by two players that never score. Sadly not enough to salvage a point.

 

I didn't like this game.

 

He subbed out to bring Brooks on. If someone told me we were going to have 2 goals from him and Beltran, I would never have believed it.
