So I guess if another section wanted to pay for scarfs that said "Refugees Not Welcome" (or even "Make America Great Again"), that would be OK.
For me its more financial. From a financial perspective its something the team needs to tread lightly. People (myself included) tend to gravitate to people with similar beliefs. If the team/supporters are saying things I agree with, I continue sticking around. If they get too political with things a lot of people start disagreeing with it will start hurting the bottom line. For me its not about "just shut up about politics" and more "be careful not to offend your customers". To this board specificaly, at least in my case, a lot of us come from very different backgrounds with very different political beliefs and if we start delving into politcial things 40% of the contributors here strongly disagree with then you'll lose 40% of your contributors and view points on soccer. Its not about killing free speach its more that as a business free speach can have very real costs.
Was inferior to FC Dallas. That was last week's game. We have to worry more about our next game against the Revs.
@Ismitje can you create a Politics thread to which we can direct folks who want to discuss politics? If this is a bad idea, just say so. If we can't have that, I guess we will just have to do as @rslfanboy suggests above. My reason for asking is that using a cell phone to read messages and scroll through the threads is a big pain under normal circumstances. If posters begin cluttering up the threads with that stuff it will become almost impossible to follow the soccer discussions.
clutter is ok to an extent. All of the threads have some. Political clutter is a different sort. People go on looooong rants. Everyone involved has to have the last say, etc... so they never end.
Didn't know that. Thank you. Edit: I looked at that linked thread. That's a general BS thread. I was thinking of a Politics thread on the RSL board so that those who want to can discuss local stuff in addition to national and international.
Not to get political or anything, but whoever in 35 had the two-stick tifo with "This premise is a TIFO, not a bar" and "This premise is a TWO-STICK, not a restaurant" on either side was the highlight of the match for me. And the guys behind me were ticked at SCB's tifo, the #11 Rusnak jersey. Thpught it was disrespectful. Meh. We've got a new #11--let's move on.
That seems crazy to get upset over. To a lesser extent I could maybe understand if someone was using 77, since that's not a common number in soccer, but to get upset over someone using 1-11 is just craziness. The whole bar/restaurant thing is just dumb. Such a waste of time and taxpayer money when there are far more important things that they should be using their time for instead.
