So this friendly that we really don't need this season is upon us. Anyone going? I always hate to see our stadium overtaken by fans of the opposing team who then mumble among themselves saying that we have no fans. Looks like AEG totally overpriced this one - LOTS of trouble selling out despite pretty serious advertising. Last time we played these guys, 81k showed up! This means that if you want to go, Friday/Saturday should see some great deals on Stubhub. Team might also start offering giveaways to fill the stadium. Keep your eyes out. These games aren't worth the money and I wish they didn't happen midseason, but there is still fun to be had if you get the right deal.
I'm going. I hope the fact that it's at the Stubhub at least means it won't be the Los Angeles Man Unitedfest we had last time. I love United but it was tragic seeing the Galaxy look like visitors in their own city. The buddy I usually go to games with has begged off after the last time we played.
My cousins talked me into going. I wanted to take certain headwear but, they've recently been enforcing a strict clear bag policy.
Last time we had an embarrassing game against MU and the players say it inspired them to go on and win the title. This time we got embarrassed by a... slightly worse team, so there is no need for this.
We're going to win this game 3-0 and Curt is going to say it shows we can compete with the best in the world.
4 more days until potentially the worst a$$ whooping this team has taken in a friendly ever. Remember when LA was one of the few teams in MLS that could not only put up a respectable fight but actually win these type of games every so often? Sigh,...Let's just pray Mourinho is merciful.
Can't wait till Pogba and Lukaku dab on our whole team and all the 12-13 year old fans in the crowd with their fidget spinners start dabbing as well. This whole game will be a cringe fest on and off the field.
Here are 2 more that we won. The Entire Philippines National Team Boca Juniors : I remember the Mexican press pretending as the loss never happening they were so surprised.
Wasn't that a Boca reserve team? We've won many preseason/postseason friendlies but just one of these "glory friendlies".
I just don't want to see us get obliterated when a ton of casual soccer fans will be watching us. It makes us look so bad. I understand that these friendlies pay the bills and for the players it's an awesome experience, but it's crappy to see your club get embarrassed by a bunch of half fit non-caring players.
We beat Club America a year or two ago. I kept posting hilights of Robbie Keanes goal on the Liga Mx forum and got banned. The real question is which first team player picks up an injury in this game? Smart money is on Jose Villarreal.
Not sure. But then again Bruce never trotted out a full first team for any of these things accept maybe for that Philippines game.
I forgot about them because they really don't matter. Still it was nice to see those highlights; thanks The Beautiful Gamer for finding those.
The Dodger Stadium game was pretty sweet. Antagonistic crowd at kickoff ended up chanting "Galaxy" by the end. Silly event though with only 33k in attendance. Should've just had it at Stubhub.
