Going by the eye test rather than digging out stats I can say that Messi on ability is a top 10 all time player... George Best on ability at his best 1964-71 is a top 10 player... and quite easily IMO.... CR7 is maybe top 25. If George Best was in his prime today, the discussion would be between Messi and Best for best player in the world, Ronaldo would be in 3rd place... just my personal opinion.
Totally different style! at his best form (66-69) Best was a true great individually. Best's style is more like in between Garrincha and Ronaldo fenomeno (pre-injured) or Maradona in his younger days 78-82. Very individualistic and a ONE MAN show in his team/ As mentioned he often resolved a game by his own talent ... before ...he would create for the team (liek Garrincha and Ronaldo) In brief, Best was like a Sniper who functioned alone on a side to help the commando squad Messi was great in Barca shirt, and was more of a great player shining bright out of a great system ...
