I am not worried if few of our young players like Sane, Goretzka, Gnabry makes a slow start to the season...it is important they get integrated well and performs later...both Bayern and City have many competitions to play so chances will be there

The manager is unhappy with the winger’s application and believes leaving him out of the match day squad will help him regain his focus. Leroy Sane has been left out of the Manchester City squad for the game against Newcastle on Saturday evening.

Sources have told Goal that Pep Guardiola is unhappy with the winger’s attitude. The Catalan believes Sane needs to be sent a message and has taken the decision to omit him from the matchday 18.

The 22-year-old has struggled for game time in City’s first three games of the season and was disappointing when introduced from the bench during the 1-1 draw at Wolves last Saturday.

Guardiola said during pre-season that Sane was “far from his best”, but insisted ahead of the Wolves game that there have been no problems with his attitude or fitness.

“In the past two weeks in training, I’ve seen the Leroy that I know and we know,” Guardiola told the press. “I am delighted about that.

"You know about his performances in pre-season, he arrived late and now he is getting back like Leroy is.”

Behind the scenes, however, Guardiola and his staff have been left unimpressed by Sane’s focus, and believes he needs a jolt in order to get back to the kind of form that saw him named Young Player of the Year last season.

Shameful club, Man City don't deserve Sane

If this continues I hope we make a move for him in winter or summer.

Is this a Pep issue or a Sane issue? I can't believe Pep is picking on Sane, possibly more that Sane has some attitude issues that he has to re-adjust. I wonder if it's the same reason Low dropped him from the NT for the WC.

Also, I don't think Bayern suffers players with bad attitudes easily, more likely will keep him on the bench.

Bayern have dealt with a lot of bad attitudes Robben and Ribery are prime examples.

Bayern will definitely prefer German players also the DFB will like one of their main stars to be at a top club where his interest can be "protected"

Pep said he was dropping Sane because Mendy the left back plays in a similar space left and wide

Looks like there are 2 different stories going on. One said it was a Sane attitude issue and one that it was Mendy. I hope it's not an attitude issue, those are difficult to work out.

Both looks true. Last week it was Mendy, maybe Sane didnt react well to having a LB pushing him out of the team

Its hard to go from the best young player and one of the best 11 in the league to a benchwarmer

i hope Bayern has started talking with his agent

Problem with sane is his body language is so negative, it's clear he's not enjoying the situation of "work hard to challenge for your place", remember no one has a divine right to be guaranteed a starting berth, specially at a sugar daddy club like city who can constantly wave the cheque book, sane needs to learn to have a stronger mentality, so if loser loew keeps him on the bench is he going to drop his head?

I think this generation of players have very soft mentality

They all lack toughness mentally n physically. They dont have the mentality to fight, to press, to win duels, to work hard.

    very frustrating

If we have a better system to press, everything will be sorted.

Sane, Gnabry, Wolf, Brandt, they all need to learn. Werner as well

To be honest, a possession based football can lead to laziness and reluctance to fight........especially if they arent playing the proper possession football

Its hard to establish a pressing system. Took Liverpool for 2 years......... and lets dont forget the training session tend to be shorter for NTs.

    The tactics need to change

I do agree that possession based football is a hugh challenge for national teams, as its much harder for coaches to implement it with the lack of time they have with players and over the years the very best coaches have countered it with fast counters, as for clubs it's far easier for them as they can buy success, players to fit the system

Well for me loew is still not learning. His latest squad has no proper holding player rather there deep lying play makers who lack the steel and discipline to play in that position, also midfield is the key area where how the game is dictated

Don't get trolled with this same old spiel

Sane played very well last season in a hard pressing team where he did all the things german supposedly don't do. The idea he is soft is silly. He succeeded in a tough environment.

The issue is that Mendy is also a very good player so Pep has adjusted how the team plays as he doesn't like to have two players out on the wing

Sane will play a lot of games this season fingers crossed - he was a key performer for Pep

He got a big chance last season due to Mendy's serious injury

So then Pep tended to play with the left back tucked into midfield and Sane pushed high and wide - like he did at Bayern with Ribery

This season he may attack a lot more with his left back
