Asensio can easily play on that right wing, making him a playmaking winger. Mahrez plays like that too at City, Silva did too before he was moved to midfield.

Carlo once said that one of his earliest lessons was to play a formation that best suited the personnel he has rather than choosing a formation and then fitting players into it.

I'm all good with that method, was just answering your question. Solari seems to want wingers out wide and not inverted types like Bale on the right or Asensio there.

Midweek Solari had problem playing Isco a 10 and Asensio as an inverted winger and the result? Fantastic football.

    Against Melilla....

I like Isco and Asensio, but this year they are both sh*t when they play on the wings. We can play Isco more in Modric his place, but he can't play on the wings, too slow.

Melilla aren’t exactly world beaters for sure but neither is Huesca who are sitting last on the table yet we struggled against them. Regardless of the opponent’s quality with those two on the pitch, in those roles l our creativity jumps 10 folds.

Asensio isn’t at his best on the left wing but on the right he has done great and with consistency in that position we’ll get even more out of him, I don’t recall advocating for Isco to play on the wings.

I'd agree, Isco and Asensio haven't been good on the wings. Neither have Lucas and Bale. Which again brings me back to why the hell are we playing with wingers when we have no one who is performing in those areas?

The insistence on this is baffling. It's beyond illogical. Our worst two games this season (aside from vs. Barca) have been vs. Eibar and last weekend, on narrow pitches. Those games screamed for packing the midfield, short quick passes. You have phenomenal full backs with never ending energy, you can play them higher up the pitch if you add another midfielder in.

I agree, but Solari keeps playing with wingers (don't ask me why). Ofcourse Vazquez is not a better footballer than Isco and Asensio, but we keep winning with him in the starting 11. Not saying that it's all because of him, but the guy works very hard and in one way I understand why Solari keeps playing Vazquez in a 433.

Not good enough for real Oviedo let alone Real Madrid manager. Nice man but he isn’t what the team needs

The more I see Solari the more I think the 'appoint a happy go lucky Madridista who lets the players do their thing' was the wrong approach this time and we should have went for Conte.

The reason is simple. We know the players suck as a whole, a combination of too young and too complacent/physically done, or just specialists in one thing and bad at everything else. So when you have a group of poor players, the only way to make them good is through a system that makes the collective cover the weaknesses with emphasis on defense.

However I could see two reasons why Florentino didn't go for that. First, he thinks the players are good. Possible but we can just hope hes not that delusional after all the time he spent in football and the entire institution Madrid is with the best professional staff there.

Second, he knows the players suck but he has given up on the season and waits for the summer to start Galacticos 3.0 with Pochetino. The problem is this doesn't explain giving Solari a 3 year contract.

I understand not wanting to go for a short term fix in Conte, but if Solari ever works out with these kids, it will be after years of sucking. Not sure Madrid fans can wait that long...

"Can we play you every week" CSKA fans were singing at Bernabeu. What have we become!

Eibar fans were probably signing something similar.

Then you have people who think I'm crazy because I have said for the past two years Florentino Perez has leading us to this abyss.

    Well.

    We're here. Enjoy I guess.

Is anyone really surprised that we suck this bad after the 3-peat? I sure am not.

It's time for a squad rebuild like the one Flo did when he came back.

This could be partly to give an image of stability. He probably has a clause where he gets paid for the first year only in case he gets fired, just like JL had. We won't be forced to pay the remainder of his contract if we decide to let him go in the summer.

At times i like Florentino and at times i don't. I know his job isn't easy but for me the biggest problem is that we have no idea where he's going or what his plan is. The club has been extremely silent about transfers and that could be good or bad. I don't think he's gonna go out like this, he's too smart for that.

CSKA couldn't beat Plzen in either games. Our squad is the weakest since 2009, but still the B team we fielded yesterday had enough talent. No reason why we should lose like that at home to CSKA. Main issue is that many of the players don't play with any purpose since 2017 double. We need some new signings but also a good coach that demands consistency from players since we can't sell half the squad.

We got lucky with ZZ else 2015-16 and 2017-18 would have been trophy less and these players still wouldn't care about not winning. It's no coincidence we only had 2 league titles this decade and followed the league winning seasons with pathetic league efforts in 2012-13 and 2017-18. Yet Barca are hungry every season despite winning the league so many times this decade.

Isco and Asensio are both 10s therefore only one can play in the middle, then we would probably just play Bale and Benzema up front but then they miss too many chances.

Conte got into a fight with the team captain despite them being in completely different time zones. In hindsight I doubt the results would have been much better.

Conte would have found his team and given 0 minutes to anybody else which would probably give us better results at night like yesterday, but in the long run we'd have to start from the very beginning with him. Good chance players like Vinicius would have to leave the club at summer already.
