france needs to fix this otherwise i dont see us surviving against the likes of germany .. i still dont know greizemann role . evra and sagna should be defenders . the pressing was not strong (but its friendly) ... we were not playing counter attacking football.

Agreed. DD needs to have more of a playing style in mind. That starting 11 was way too defensive.

this team wont survive against stacked teams like germany or spain and teams that park the bus , they will sit and soak the pressure

I was just telling my brother that we're not known for scoring directly from free-kicks. I had forgotten about Rothen's goal. The one that really sticks in the memory is Zidane's versus England at Euro 2004. It was so beautiful. Zizou est immortel !

I was really sad to hear about this. Aulas is gonna be pissed. Fekir is the type of player that France seldom produces -- an attacking all-arounder with a low center of gravity. He's been called the French Messi. He reminds me of Roberto Baggio.

I liked that DD started Fekir up front, but the midfield lacked width and true creativity. Valbuena should be one of the first names on any starting line-up. He offers France something that nobody else does.

Bad news for Lyon, in-form attacker Nabil Fekir will be out for six-months after he was subbed off early this game due to ruptured his cruciate ligaments. :(

Just part of being a Lyon fan. Every season there has to be at least one devastating long term injury.

    Lackluster from both sides

Both sides with players called up that truly did not deserve to be called up

Good game for both sides as t helps with fitness and sharpness

i believe france has better strikers than dare i say germany, england, and italy .. we have one the best strikers in europe . the difference between france and the likes of germany is the system and how they play .. germany always scores shit tones of goals from open play . there systems is more practical and efficient. for the 2014WC france went for a team that got along well togather after the disasters of 2008 and 2010. however for this tournament, the team is not balanced at all. some players should not be on the team dispite there quality and others are playing out of there positions...

slowly the players will lose their respect for DD

Germany doesn't even use a striker or proper fullbacks for that

And Pelle starts for Italy I would say that the stars are aligned for France to win the euro

The Euro will be won or lost in midfield. Strikers are no longer a necessity. Just look at how teams like Barca have played without one on occasion. But Benzema continues to be more of a liabity than a strength. The team feels compelled to include him in the play and he doesnt create much if anything. Having someone like Fekir could be a potential boost because he can create something from nothing and that would disrupt the defensive strategy of the opposing team. Right now the teams never stress because they know they can easily contain Benzema.

I like what you said about Fekir. He has been called the French Messi. He reminds me of Roberto Baggio with those silky smooth ball skills. Like the Argentine and the Italian, Fekir has a low centre of gravity. Not too many current French players have that ability to make something out of nothing and really alter the course of a game. That's why I was disappointed to hear that he expected to miss six months after that cruciate injury he sustained on Friday night. Let's all hope he makes a quicker-than expected return. He will be a nice trump card to have next summer.

This is much much better despite Giroud missing the unmissable and losing the ball that led to Serbias goal. At least Giroud on the pitch everyone still plays well. With Benz he brings everyone down to his level.

Plus I really liked Schneiderlin's long passes. Giroud can be useful to redirect those passes over the top to an oncoming Greizmann or other player.

Martial doing well despite the crazy pressure he's under.

How many more caps left now? :D

And Benzema is still invisible after he came on. I'd easily prefer Martial over Benz.
