No one has a clue which squad we'll be taking. It will however be very different from our real A-squad, since many of our best players' season isn't over yet and/or aren't being released by their club for this competition.

34 players in this selection but only about 20 players will make the trip because a lot of players will still need to play some games for their club teams. A few important players are also missing due to injury like Vertonghen (Ajax) and Fellaini (Everton). So basically Belgium will play these games with a B-squad also.

Goal: Logan Bailly (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Yves De Winter (Westerlo), Olivier Renard (KV Mechelen), Davy Schollen (Anderlecht), Stijn Stijnen (Club Brugge) en Brian Vandenbussche (SC Heerenveen)

Defense: Toby Alderweireld (Ajax), Filip Daems (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Sepp De Roover (FC Groningen), Olivier Deschacht (Anderlecht), Vincent Kompany (Manchester City), Sébastien Pocognoli (AZ), Jeroen Simaeys (Club Brugge), Timmy Simons (PSV), Gill Swerts (AZ), Daniel Van Buyten (Bayern München), Jelle Van Damme (Anderlecht), Anthony Vanden Borre (Genoa), Thomas Vermaelen (Ajax)

Midfield: Steven Defour (Standard Luik), Guillaume Gillet (Anderlecht), Faris Haroun (Germinal Beerschot), Eden Hazard (Lille), Maarten Martens (AZ), Vadis Odjidja Ofoe (Club Brugge), Axel Witsel (Standard Luik)

Attack: Igor De Camargo (Standard Luik), Moussa Dembélé (AZ), Tom De Sutter (Anderlecht), Stein Huysegems (RC Genk), Kevin Mirallas (Saint-Étienne), Joachim Mununga (KV Mechelen), Wesley Sonck (Club Brugge) en Björn Vleminckx (KV Mechelen)

I was looking forward to see the European based Chilean players play in this game. Chile has some nice young talented players, just like Belgium actually... therefore watching 2 B- squads won't be very interesting :(

me too.

We'll miss Alexis Sánchez (Udinese/Italy), Mauricio Isla (Udinese/Italy), Arturo Vidal (Bayer Leverkusen/Germany), Carlos Villanueva (Blackburn Rovers/England), Claudio Bravo (Real Sociedad/Spain), and the "old" Pablo Contreras(PAOK/Greece).

Also, some Chilean fans like Matías Fernández(Villarreal/Spain) and Mark González(Real Betis) also. Not me.

And David Pizarro(Roma/Italy) is not in the NT anymore (since 2006).

Bailly is a nice GK, hopefully he can make his debut for Belgium very soon.

Advocaat has some close relation with Stijnen's father... so I've heard somewhere :confused:

I wonder what Vercauteren is gonna do in the meantime tho... Bailly or Stijnen

So this is the team that ends up making the trip. I wonder why we even bother leaving for Japan :eek:

Doel:
Stijn Stijnen (Club Brugge), Brian Vandenbussche (Heerenveen/Ned), Olivier Renard (KV Mechelen)
Verdediging: Toby Alderweireld (Ajax/Ned), Filip Daems (Borussia Mönchengladbach/Dui), Sébastien Pocognoli (AZ/Ned), Gilles Swerts (AZ/Ned), Thomas Vermaelen (Ajax/Ned)
Middenveld: Faris Haroun (Germinal Beerschot), Maarten Martens (AZ/Ned), Geoffrey Mujangi-Bia (Charleroi), Joachim Mununga (KV Mechelen), Kevin Roelandts (Zulte Waregem), Timmy Simons (PSV/Ned)
Aanval: Moussa Dembélé (AZ/Ned), Stein Huysegems (Genk), Jelle Vossen (KRC Genk)

.......Huysegems....Dembele........
Martens....Mujangi..........Mununga
..............Simons...............
Pocognoli..Vermaelen..Alderweireld..Swerts
...............Stijnen....................

That's the best I can make of it, 3 players making their debut. Rather attacking team, so u can be sure Vercauteren won't use my tactics lol

With Bielsa as coach, you'll never know the definitive XI, BUT I think we'll see this XI against Belgium:

Pinto;
Medel, Jara, Fuentes, Cereceda;
Iturra, Estrada,
Valdivia;
Puch, Paredes, Beausejour.

It's a "B" squad (9 starters aren't in Japan: Bravo, Contreras, Ponce, Carmona, Vidal, Fernández, Sánchez, Suazo and González).

I actually would expect Veloso to take over the starting GK spot.

Belgium-Chile 1-1

Only saw the second half, we played ok with a very strange team to say the least. Mujangi bia and Alderweireld missed some huge scoring opportunities. I liked Mujangi Bia, he has a future with the national team for sure. Also Alderweireld and De Laet did well for their first international game ever. I'll never be a Faris Haroun fan however, he just plain sucks.
