Since at this point we know that such a name would not be officially accepted why even bother letting it get this far? The boat was a novelty and a more apropos context for such a name. A pro soccer team? Not so much. Certainly could be worse and it's an inevitability that a team has to deal with injuries. Time for Coach Tata to earn his keep. Thankfully it appears the Venezuelan national team has done right in how they responded to the injury, so hopefully he's well on the way to a proper recovery.
Always entertaining to read an article that originates from bitterness. Even if he makes some valid points... woo boy.

Holy shit, yeah! That's like the first porn you ever saw, shown to you by your friend in the woods after school. But you could tell that those were boobs and you knew it was something exciting though you weren't sure why. Look how they continue the North End curve around, naturally--it rolls into 18th! They want the addition to actually run into the street--so the street would have to be narrowed (not that it's a heavy traffic block currently, anyway, aside from the Max). This is amazing!
It's stupidity of accountants who can't see the big picture. I get the NFL came and went but the secondary income created by businesses more than pays back the investment. With where MLS is now, up and just leaving for another city won't be so easy with teams invested in academy's. The Union are one of Chester's biggest tax revenue sources behind a casino. Sadly the 2008 recession stopped the revitalization of the area but recently it seems to be back on again. The trick is to capture the dollars when they come into the community and build a on it.
I'm thrilled this appears to be happening for one of the best fanbases going, though a little surprised by the imagery. Given the context of the site I was expecting both something more traditional and with more openings into the ground at the lower levels. Hmmm. Funny, that didn't look like boobs to me on that application. I think the net benefit of stadiums is possible but it needs to be done right by accounting for the context of the overall (re)development planned and the level of costs involved. There are several software models available to local governments for doing such analyses. The problem is pro sports tends to be more emotional than, say, a prospective manufacturing facility and some venues are granted way too much public money. (Nats new stadium, for instance.) Worse still for college stadiums. But I digress.
Merritt was adamant on Twitter that this is not the final design but just a placeholder to get the application process going.
