easy to look good when your entire team is made out of superstars. But just looked at what happened at the Euros; every single Lyon player flopped. But that what happens when the entire rest of the year is a cakewalk
I don't think failure for players from Germany, Norway etc.. is related to what happen to those who played for the French team at the Euros,
Does anyone know why Division 1 Féminine was on break last week-end? It doesn't seem to me that there was any NT match involved... By the way, this thread was one of the more lively here on BigSoccer, until some years ago, with active contributions from people like Gromit06, Guignol, Debzy... Now it's so sad to see that nobody posted anything in the last month.
Matchday 9 OL and PSG carry on winning. They have 27 and 25 pts, MHSC have 21 pts and will need to beat the top two teams to get back in the Champions League place. At the bottom of the table, Fleury and OM have 3 pts and trail Rodez the first team out of the relegation zone by 4 points already. Matchday 11 will see OL at home to PSG on Monday the 11th of December at 2100. PSG really need to win that one to get a shot at the title.
Matchday 10 Lyon, PSG, MHSC win their respective game. Status quo therefore at the top of the table 1. OL 30 pts 2. PSG 28 pts --------------- 3. MHSC 24 pts At the bottom of the table, OM lost to Lyon and are still winless. Fleury registered their second win of the season against another relegation threatened team Rodez. 8. Guingamp 9 pts 9. Lille 8 pts 10. Rodez 7 pts ----------------- 11 Fleury 6 pts 12. OM 3 pts Matchday 11 Lyon v PSG on Monday the 11th of December
I heard that Lille-Paris FC has been postponed because of snow: any info about when it will be rescheduled? Also, what's the longest perfect record in Division 1 Féminine? Currently, OL is at 10 wins after 10 match-days, but I seem to remember that they had done even better in one of the umpteen seasons they won.
Lille v PFC is on the 20th of December now. Regarding OL winning game streaks they did 22/22 in 2010/11 2012/13 and 2014/15
Wow, I don't remember the exact line-ups of these seasons, but it had to be very frustrating for all of the others "competing" (as a figure of speak) teams.
I think it is a very interesting and competitive League except for the top place. Teams are struggling to catch up with Lyon, because it is not easy to overtake a mature team that recycles itself well despite losing talent on regular basis.
they actually got 3 other strong teams in the league,.When you look at the fourth place team, now just called Paris, got at least 8 current or former French NT's, but they too got blown out by Lyon by a ridiculous score of 9-2. The French seems into doing everything where the best stay with the best; the top soccer academy/boarding school is called Clairefontaine, which only accepts the best youth from around the country(pretty much every top players s gone there).. And despite it's luxurious surroundings, it's nothing compared to when you finally make the NT who's put up right next door in a sort of a fairly tale looking castle! Rocky like training in Spartan conditions......It Ain't it !!! makes you wonder why the French don't have the 'Hunger' to win major tournaments? lol btw...........Stallone finally admitted he stole part of the training idea form the Cuban amateur boxing manual!
Lyon 1 PSG 0 Title race is over, 2nd champions league place is still up for grabs. Lyon's president Aulas announced on tv the two new expected signings : Amandine Henry and Morgan Brian who will arrive on Wednesday. Lyon are preparing the Summer window where a good number of players will leave or retire. They are also looking at signing a third player which should be a left-back as Majri does not want to play there and they only have 17 years old Selma Bach as cover.
a nice crowd of 7K showed up for the OL/PSG match. Highlights but looking at the lineups, it shows why the France senior NT is mess. PSG only starts 3. OL is a little better, but notice between both teams, all their former superstar youth players like M'Bock, Cascarino & Geyoro are either subs or benchwarmers http://us.women.soccerway.com/match...nnais-feminin/paris-saint-germain-fc/2527095/ compare that to the Bundesliga where many of their teens all ready having starring roles & it's no wonder why the Germans do so much better in major tournaments
I would say Brian isn't no where close to America's best these days; she had a topsy turvy pro career, in the NWSL as usually shows up at the beginning only to claim injury & miss majority of the rest of the season/or show up late again. She probably also lost her starting spot on the USWNT as Ellis found plenty of other players while she was out, besides, Julie Ertz looks way better these days at DM. So this is what I got to ask; why would Lyon spend this kind of money(2 & half year contract) on a foreigner and not on a French player from the bottom 9 league teams who you claim are amateurs? Especially now that the NT coach is calling up so many of these amateurs.
The real reason is they are in financial crisis and they needed to recycle Alex Morgan's jerseys from previous season with "Morgan" written on them. So they thought: "Hey, why don't we hire a player whose first name is Morgan?". Also, any piece on mechandising with "Morgan" written on it can likewise have a second life.
some fallout, the brother of Claire Lavogez, has been insulting the French League about hiring foreigners, Claire had a phenomenal youth career, only to be struggling to get playing time at Lyon & the NT as an adult D1 FEMININE on Twitter: "Les étrangères de #D1F, un mal pour le foot français ? ➡ https://t.co/sq0lTyqSD9 via @SandrineDusang https://t.co/WQsneeCWDB" my 2 cents is least Alex Morgan had some personality; with Nike & bikini contracts., writing children books & while having a lil bad girl side(like getting kicked out of Epcot Center) there's nothing extra-ordinairy about Brian; she feigsn injury so she only played limited time in Houston(kinda can't blame her, it's a hell hole where temp. gets over 90 degrees with 100% humidity in the summer). but then makes a miraculous for an major NT tournament
Well, I guess the problem is not the number of foreign players in itself: after all, we're way far from the crowd of them in some men's leagues. The problem is there are too few really competitive sides in Division 1, and just one actually fighting for the title. Of course, if you sign for OL you have no guaranteed playing time, so you start getting the feeling that it's competing with the likes of Maroszan, Kumagai and Brian that ruins your day. But actually, if you could play in another club and have the same chances to get a good domestic and international career, suddenly the competition from overseas would become less relevant. After all, Lavogez herself was playing in Montpellier until two years ago: she would have got less competition for a starting place there; if she chose to transfer to OL, that comes with a lot of strings attached, including not being sure to play. Probably right now she's so pissed off because she had thought that, with Nécib retired and Abily on the verge of retirement, it was finally her turn to take over OL's midfield?
Lavogez made the move to Lyon and got a huge pay rise, but gambled on her game time. The MHSC coach was counting on her and wanted to develop her the same way as Toletti and Karchaoui. It is quite clear her football level has regressed due to injuries and lack of playing time. She will go on loan until her contract ends and then she will be a free agent. Considering the lack of quality number 10 players for the NT, Lavogez needs to have 18 good months for club and she could be our playmaker for the World Cup.
Lavogez unhappy with her lack of playing time after coming back from injury. She is out of contract in 6 months. A very good free agent to sign.
