The Europa League final is in Lyon next year, not this year.
The defense is a real problem. They could easily go out to Roma in the second leg.
Yes, it will be an exciting match
Congrats to Monaco for advancing past the favorites, Man City. They are a young team and have gotten better since they stopped trying to spend their way into success. A team with a lot of grit and character, which money cannot buy.
Yeah its bizarre seeing American and English announcers subtle support for a club like Man City when I thought that they loved the underdog. What a bunch of phonies. All they care about are ratings.
Also please stop mentioning that Pep never loses in the quarter finals. The 3 teams he had are some of the wealthiest in the world so of course he should never lose! They somehow never bring that up though. Its aggravating. Kiss the ass of a guy who has massive resources where ever he goes lol typical bozo announcers.
That was the only part of the announcers I liked when Friedel mentioned similar what you just said.
American TV is never really subtle about support for EPL teams over those from "foreign" leagues like France.
FS1 is showing Besiktas vs Olympiakos and ManUtd. vs Rostov. FS2 is showing Krasnodor vs Celta Vigo and M'Gladbach vs Schalke. Why no Lyon vs Roma I have no idea.
United are the biggest club in the US so they'll always get the preferential treatment in our market. The German clubs probably get it because Fox owns the rights for the Bundesliga. I wholeheartedly agree that it's garbage though.
Besiktas vs Olympikos?
Played in Turkey so it's atleast an our ahead of Rome. Again, I think it's stupid, I just see what their paper thin intentions are. I'm watching the match in Spanish on ESPN3....
Its been a down year for the Europa League in terms of the amount of powerhouse teams left this late on. OL are 2nd favorites to win it now. If they dont do it now then a French team will never win it.
Lyon 5-4 Roma !
By the way the draw of the CL last 8 :-
O'L draw Besiktas. Not the best draw but one we will be favorites to win. Need a really strong first leg at home.
Besiktas best crowd/atmosphere of all the teams left. Difficult environment to play in. Brand new stadium as well. They got some famous players like Ryan Babel (ex Liverpool), Ricardo Queresma, Adriano from Barca, Demba Ba from various EPL sides. Also Vincent Aboubakar, ex Lorient. Weaker on paper than Roma but hotter atmospshere at the stadium will make up the advantage.
Spot on. For me this tie will either be won or lost in the first leg.
Gonalons out first leg, right ?
Suspended. 433 is my guess with Tolisso and Tousart deeper and Darder/Ferri a little further up. Concerning there though as that isn't much cover in front of Diakhaby and Mammana....
Ho Ho !! Who would have thought that we will have a representative team for Ligue 1 in CL Semifinal this season and it names was not Paris Saint-Germain !
both the monaco QF win and today's win from Lyon brought me immense satisfaction. Vive la France!
last time they where semi final of french teams was in 2004, monaco and marseille .
There was 12 straight kicks made before someone missed. I wasnt used to seeing that.
Yup, and if my memory serves me correctly, both of them made it into the final but lost on both.
What a sweet European campaign season in memory for Ligue 1 teams.
The draw results are out, what your guys think of it ?
Champions League Semi Final
Read Madrid vs Atletico Madrid
Juventus vs Monaco
Europa League Semi Final
Ajax vs Lyon
Celta Vigo vs Man Utd
Personally I think Lyon have a good chance advance into the Europa league final while according to the odds, most bets has been placed on Juventus and they are consider the most favorite team to win the CL championship this season among the final 4 teams.
