@FanOfFutbol, I can't follow this thread while the traffic is so high on Nadeshiko Japan's thread: join us there for 2nd half!!!
Japan scores after Endo makes a great play that will mostly go unnoticed. The ball was effectively lost and Endo steals it back and make the only dangerous pass available and the result GOAL!! Spain is applying a lot of pressure but Japan responds and prevents the fast answer.
Ok: just give a look at how much we wrote from the beginning of the match there, and you'll get a rough idea. I guess anyway Endo managed to leave her mark on the game, so far, didn't she? That obstinacy in the goal action!!!
Kakeru sums up the past 26 minutes (in Nadeshiko thread) No Andy Townsend?! It's 3-1 now GOOOOAAAL for Spain!🇪🇸71' - ANDUJAR pic.twitter.com/JIFsQsy4Ly— FIFA Women's World Cup (@FIFAWWC) August 24, 2018
FIFA usually call their people to provide solo commentary, but Clive is more than good enough to provide a quality one if asked. He used to work for the BBC, who are kings in that domain.
Hey! If that was not a yellow card against Eva Navarro for unsportsmanlike conduct, I don't know what it is.
I was close, FT 1-3 Japan. All the jinxing against us didn't work: Nadeshiko Japan is U-20 World Champion!!!!
Congrats to Japan. I knew they were going to win it when 5 of the last 6 teams left were from UEFA. In the first day of Quarterfinal matches, Nigeria and North Korea lost. 5 of 6 teams remained going in to day 2 of QF. It was Japan vs. all of UEFA. And you just knew that UEFA was going to choke again in a major tournament. Since 2011: Here are the major "international" tournaments in which UEFA failed to win: 2011 Women's World Cup = Japan 2012 Olympics = USA 2012 U-20 WWC = USA 2014 U-17 WWC = Japan 2015 Women's World Cup = USA 2016 U-20 WWC = North Korea 2016 U-17 WWC = North Korea 2018 U-20 WWC = Japan *3 titles for Japan, 3 for USA, 2 for North Korea **USA is the only team to win one of each: WWC, Olympics, U-20 ***Japan's 3 titles included a U-17 title, but did not include Olympic Gold UEFA, here are the only major "international" tournaments they won since 2011: 2012 U-17 WWC = France 2014 U-20 WWC = Germany 2016 Olympics = Germany UEFA has only won 3 of the 11 major tournaments since 2011, for World Cup, Olympics, U-20, and U-17. UEFA seems to have the most teams ranked #2 through #16 in the world, by far. But they often fail to have the #1 team, in the rankings, or on the podium. Once again, congrats to Japan. They won every knockout stage match in this tournament by multiple goals. They just didn't beat UEFA. They DOMINATED UEFA.
Congratulations to Japan. Deserved tournament winners. A great final with technical football all over the pitch.
