I download off iTunes, it's the Feb 9, '17 Dummy podcast titled "The challenges of coaching in the 4th Division w/ David Lindholm"
Looks like Brown is "back home" between Chinese seasons. He went to UCF in Orlando for college so it makes sense that he's spending some time staying in game shape with Tampa. They list him just as a "training player" and not a trialist. Interesting note, his coach in China is Sven-Goran Eriksson!
China changed their rules regarding Foreign players allowed, and on field. Guess Deshorn was a casualty of that. Former Rapids striker Deshorn Brown on Tuesday signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the second-division United Soccer League (USL).
Not sure about current form but he could be an upgrade/depth if he's not too expensive to bring back.
He would require use of our allocation spot. Any player sold by the league for more than $500K (which Brown was) goes on the list of players who require an allocation. He's not worth that. A number of fans complained when we sold him, but given we got over $500K for him 2 years ago and he's now been signed by a USL team, I think that's an example of striking while the iron was hot.
Looking back at the 2013 Draft and that shows just how little long term talent comes through the college ranks, HG signings that same year are very solid (Yedlin, Zardes, Trapp & Caldwell). Can't blame Rapids for not going Zimmerman like many of us wanted at that time (given injuries he had then) but I would so much prefer him to Watts at CB these days.
It was good business at the time. He could still torch USL and then prove he's worth an allocation to some team and it would still be good business.
Just heard on my dvr-ed version of ESPN FC that Jermaine Jones is retro-re-refereed suspended this weekend. With injuries, suspensions, and call ups they may only see about as much of him as we did ....
Been told Marvell Wynne's heart surgery went well, he's in incredibly good spirits. Recovery will take about 6-9 months. #MLS— Julie Stewart-Binks (@JSB_TV) March 25, 2017
Koz goes the full 90 in the Tulsa Roughnecks 4-1 season opener against the Switchbacks (http://www.uslsoccer.com/tulsaroughnecksfc-coloradospringsswitchbacksfc-905442)
I really miss Kimura. Unlike the effort we saw against Minnesota, Koz never dialed it in. There are players with more skill, but very few with more heart.
He learned it from Pablo! Plus, strikers tend to look better when they see the ball within 30 yards of goal. He did look his Rapids self when he took to long to get a shot off on a good opportunity off a counter, giving the defender time to recover and block it.
Oh boy........Irwin leg/knee buckled wickedly tonight SKC when it got stuck in the turf sliding out to make a save. Immediately subed off. He walked off the field with help but at least he wasn't stretchered off. That did not look good
If Irwin is out longer term Giovinco for MacMath would give both teams something they need. More seriously I hope he isn't hurt bad, if it was a simple hyper-extension of the knee there may not be many longer term consequences.
TFC has a #1 pick GK who filled in last year, my guess is he does the same again. Weird on Irwin missing all this game time since leaving.
Just speculating... It wouldn't shock me to learn one of the reasons for trading him to TFC was a metric indicating susceptibility to injury. The Rapids do some serious medical statistical analysis as part of their take on moneyball soccer. Wish him all the best regardless.
Get better soon Drew! We would like to wish @drewmoor a speedy recovery from his caradiac arrhythmia. Get well soon Drew. #ForeverRapid #witharapidyell— Centennial 38 (@C38sg) April 14, 2017
