First off: Fvck you, no one asked for your opinion Second off: You're absolutely right, but what the hell are we going to do to change any of this, especially when a lot of us actually have been fighting to change this. And Third and most importantly: Go die in a fire.
Until this asshole sells the team we will continue to suffer as fans. 10 years and counting..... #HauptmanOut
Yeah, I did not bother reading it. But I HAVE been drinking a bit, so... Go die in fire (or something)
“Come at me” ?? What an ass. Not going to read now although I would’ve had the op not acted like a thug
Presence in the city? I bet a good portion of the city doesn't know we exist. I bet if I walked into the gas station down the street selling club America stuff wearing a fire hat they would even know what it is
that you use the word thug for a 3 liner so bland it's on walmart t shirts says more about you than me. i was merely being brief.
How relevant are the Rapids compared to the Avalanche, Broncos or Rockies? Your attendance suggests not very. Your ownership is on par with ours, in fact you've basically had a Hauptman era since 1996 with no sign that it will ever change. At least we've had a good FO and ownership in the past.
As soon as I read, "come at me, bro," I knew the article was basically going to say, "you guys suck and no one pays attention in your city." To which my response is, "duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh." Nice try trying to out deprecate the already constantly self-deprecating.
All I had to see was the repeated use of "bro" as a word. It's like seeing the script to "The Californians" skit on SNL.
I'll be doing a piece on the Rapids soon. Well more scathing than this. however, I live in Louisiana now. Been traveling and doing grant work to get soccer in areas with the of the poorest cities in the USA. Chicago reasons were obvious in the piece. I've had the smallest of conversations with FCD going into NWLA. So the Rapids were just a team I loved when I started this account. MLS is my league more than any team is my team.
Is plonker chicago slang? I didn't read the article because they wanted me to turn off my adblocker. I agree with Jiggly just for that
Your article is actually not bad, but the "come at me" is obnoxious as shit. We are a reactionary lot and we have damned good reasons for it. By the way, I have been in Portland (Wed-Sat) and I am currently in Seattle (Sat-Mon). The MLS team profile in Portland is 50x greater than Chicago (and the stadium is right downtown). I was at the Seattle-Fire game last night. The Sounders friggin' own this city. Way bigger Sounders presence than Mariners. Both cities have embraced their MLS teams in a way that Chicago has not since 2000 (save for the signing of Blanco, but that was mostly limited to thw Spanish speaking section of the City).
