Why did they break up the thread?

Doesn't make much sense to me, either. The forum was working very well as it was.

I for one vote for a return to the original format. One single forum is enough.

    Huss says we're too noisy.

Well, actually he says the old forum had 17K posts. Is that supposed to be a lot? (He could have said 4 guhjillion and I would've thought "yeah, that sounds about right.")

Huss & Co. do a great job so I hate to whine, but I did enjoy the frisson of Joe Strummer tributes rubbing up against Literature in Translation threads. Does that make me a conversational deviant? A topical pervert? A posting whore?

    So be it.

Actually, I think FFA was broken up so more people would desire Forum Jump capability.

It used to be at the bottom of the page for everybody, then for awhile it was available through the "Suggestions and announcements" Forum. You would click on it and get a list of all the fora, then you could use your mouse to "jump" instantly to the forum of your choice. Now it's only available to the premium members.

Book lovers are notoriously rowdy. I'll never forget the book fair they had at the old folks home a few years back...about burned the place down when we ran out of Art Linkletter's autobiography.
