I have a poster on my wall from the 10 year anniversary in 2008 where they decided on the "All-Decade Best XI". About 6 or 7 years ago I found this Peanuts strip and added it into the bottom corner of the poster frame. It's probably the most fitting way to describe the second decade of the Fire's existence.
Your avatar makes this extra great. I moved from Chicago a couple decades back. Now we live in Scranton. Since Union came into the league, my wife and I have thought about getting down there to catch the Fire. We thought about it, but when we saw the forecast earlier in the week, I backed off. I apologize for not doing my share in bearing the weight of suckitude. Forgive me, Fire fans.
Fire had their chances but as usual hit it right at the goalkeeper or over the net. We don't have a creator without Gaitan out there. Our strikers are just not good enough.
That is the 4th longest winless streak in league history, so we are #1 and #4. Top 5 #1. Chicago Fire 36 (7/23/14-8/6/2016) #2. New York Redbulls 27 (5/31/2008-10/14/2009) #3. Montreal Impact 25 (9/28/2013-5/30/2015) #4. Chicago Fire 23 (5/26/2018-present) #5. DC United 21 (10/27/2012-5/3/2014) With six more away games this year we can move into #2, with 29 games without a win (We have the #1 and #2 spots). Since that win in 2016 against we have gone 6-11-32, that's a .122 winning percentage. SIX fvcking wins in the last 49 away games August 6, 2016-present.
Never! Were there any moon references during the broadcast "The ball is shaped like the moon, and we hope it lands in the net"
Especially when we play two of the three strikers on the roster at midfield, our only creative midfielder other than Gaitan is on the bench, and we continue to play our most expensive midfielder at CB.
AND the game is on ESPN2. Real television! A great showcase for the Red Stars and it will be strange seeing a "full" Bridgeview stadium.
17,338, better than all our games this year (12 games), last time we had more than 17,388 was our last game of the 2018 season (19,459). That was the Rooney game, so thank you Wayne.......
