Rumour has it that in the catacombs under the StubHub Center, Clint Mathis is constantly chained to a chair watching adventure movies and eating Baby Ruth bars. As soon as either Calamity Klein and Pointless Pete remember this, our coaching search will be complete.
Dunivant for GM He's was GM for the SF Deltas that won the NASL title. He's now GM for Sac Republic which is one of the biggest USL teams. Berhalter for coach We gave him his first coaching gig and training. He has given Colombus a style of play that's good looking and effective.
Aside from Klinsmann being an actual bad coach, would we expected to countenance a coach who treated a club legend so shabbily? Would we, as fans, expect that to be water under the bridge?
I can't believe I'm saying this but -- I'm pretty sure that even our FO isn't dumb enough to hire Klinnsy.
Chris Klein reports @LAGalaxy are making progress in their search for a new manager— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) September 28, 2018
What the heck does that mean? Chris Klein: "Write this down, Pete. Got a pen?" Pete Vagenas: "I'm ready..." Chris Klein: "Step 1. Start Coach Search To-Do List" Pete Vagenas: "OK. Next?" Chris Kelin: "Hang on - I have to go talk to Kevin Baxter ... Oh and cross off that first thing we put on the list!"
Worst part of that tweet is that it (almost) confirms that we are stuck with CK for yet another season.
Dear Mr Klein, I represent Pep Guardiola and he is very interested in the open position of head coach with the LA Galaxy. If you wish to discuss further, please drive sixteen miles into Death Valley. Regards, S Yudonim ...Klein reads the letter and simply says "Pep?? Like that's a real name!".
I don't think Klein gets fired. I think he saves face and lets Pete go and anyone else that he hired. My gut says he hires a GM, or someone that can take the soccer aspect of his job off his hands, and the GM hires a coach. I also think that limits our coaching search. I'm not sure too many coaches want to work with a GM and not have absolute control. Overall, I'm not feeling optimistic about any of this. From what's been said, it seems like our club is still in 2014 and the league and sport have evolved. We need a GM or coach with full control who can update how this club is run. Unfortunately, I don't trust Klein's judgement.
I loved his Inter Milan from several years back, but I can't help but think his style and ideas are quickly getting outdated. How can you not make use of Pogba, Lukaku, Martial and Rashford? They all seem to hate him. He's not a players coach and it seems like all the best managers around the world are ones who build trust and deep connections with their squads.
Please no! He's an egotistical sourpuss who throws both his players and attacking soccer under the bus anytime he faces a real challenge. Btw last night I started watching the Man City documentary on Netflix. It's sort of Hard Knocks for their 2016-2017 season. MC is not my favorite team but its cool to see behind the scenes with Pep, his players, trainers, staff and even the sports injury specialists at Barcelona (injured MC players are sent there for surgery).
I don't want to Jinx this season, but at this stage, Kinnear is winning the job. The players seem to like him, Ibra especially. I can't see how Porter would be any different or better...
Unlike the mess under Late Era Arena, Onalfo, and Sigi the Galaxy have a pretty clear standard by which to judge Kinnear's application for the managerial job. He gets the team to play out as it has since he took over, and continues to actually use players in positions that take advantage of their talent [and not regress to force feeding the line-up into some FO inspired thresher], the Galaxy will be a dangerous play-off team. Even Klein couldn't mess it up then...right? On the other hand, if these last two games prove an anomaly, and a discernible whiff of SigiBallen returns, everyone can look forward with a clear conscience to the post Dom era. Even Klein couldn't mess it up then.....right?
