As a film maker, does it annoy you that major film companies make movies like Johnny English, which were basically spawned by an amusing run of Barclay Card commercials featuring Rowan Atkinson as a Bond parody?
Which reminds me. I noticed that with Zlatan's signing, Dos Equis had to drop their long running "most interesting man in the world" campaign.
He looks amazing in Galaxy gear! Btw, if I’m a player, and I see that face, I’m running harder. He looks like a real hard ass. I love it!! Looks like he just noticed Gio running and realized it’s going to cost 5 million to get rid of him.
I'm so behind!!!! Finally surfacing from the holidays and baby being 6.5 months old (where did the time go!?!?). Excited about this new hire as well, and about getting back to analysis now that nap and bedtime are more consistent (we'll see how long that lasts). It's almost time for Galaxy soccer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yes, I'm that excited).
Remember when I suggested we give Thierry Henry the job? Looks like Monaco is going to fire him soon. Terrible, terrible record..
Bookmarking for 10+ years from now. Who knows where the league will be or the Galaxy, but Poch would be an amazing talent in MLS. He’s done remarkably well with a (self imposed) system that in many ways mirrors MLS’ team structure. He’d probably be more interested in an Eastern Conference team though. http://www.espn.com/soccer/major-le...ttino-open-to-managing-in-major-league-soccer
Yeah but this was an interview with a US network asking him a direct question. He's never going to say no. If he was interviewed by a Gibraltan network and they asked if he would ever coach there, he'd still likely say "Well, never say never!".
True, and it’s incredibly unlikely, but I said the same thing about Beckham when he answered in the affirmative during the Real Madrid tour. I just think Pochettino would do well in MLS compared to someone more used to the open purse strings of a United or Chelsea.
So what are our demands for this season? And I mean demands, rather than expectations. What should we be achieving, given that worst-to-first isn't unusual and the large salaries that AEG affords this team? Is there such a thing as a "rebuilding year" for the Galaxy, given what we spend? Is it always "win now"?
It's all going to come down on if the coaching change/style leads to defensive stability and what kind of injuries we have in our 6-7 serviceable defenders. If we are healthy back there and Polenta is a plus and the team defends better as a team I think we can win the West. Those are huge ifs though. So...demands... I guess playoffs is a bare minimum demand. Expectation would be home field in first round and not losing to Chivas.
Please don't call LAFC "Chivas". They're not that team and never were. It's objectively and morally wrong to suggest otherwise. They're Chivas USA. A plastic nonentity with pretentious fans riding on another clubs coattails.
My demands for the 2019 season: Sweep LAFC and San Jose in the regular season. Make it past the first round of playoffs.
My demands: look like a competent team whose wins/draws aren’t dramatic comebacks reliant on superstars. I will happily settle for comfortable 1-0 wins. As the saying goes, mind the pennies and the pounds/dollars will take care of themselves
Ok I’m fully in on GBS going now and maybe Te Klose. We need a big change. We need a proven winning coach. No more unproven guys coming through. I can’t remember specific records but I thought Dom did alright as our coach didn’t he? I just don’t think GBS knows what he is doing. Why is a small poacher our only striker in a physical league? Galaxy is really ********ing up big time.
Are you sayin' it's already time to drive the Stiletto into Schelotto until the Galaxy Scheletgo ? In retrospect, Thierry Henry may not have been such a bad idea.....
It’s really time to look beyond the manager and really beyond Klein, though he needs to go as well. Since Bruce’s departure the organization has tried three distinct approaches to forging an identity and building a team and each has been an abject failure. I commend Bekckerman and Klein for recognizing each failure and adapting. And certainly organizations have ebb and flow. I remember fuming about Leiweke and Doug Hamilton when they failed. Despite the revisionist history they did fail, but they also succeeded. Klein and Beckerman don’t have any success outside of that achieved on Bruce’s coattails. I’ll be happy to eat my words, but I don’t think this organization will return to its former glory until both are out. I’ll go one further and say the organization needs new ownership. I’m admittedly not as in tune with the business goings on, but at a surface level it seems AEG’s failure to land the NFL team in LA sapped all interest in the Galaxy (not sure how King’s fans maybe they’re doing better).
I’m not sure about AEG having a lack of interest. How much did they invest overall in GDS? In Chicharito? They have an interest in the team but it’s a financial one. They want to sell tickets above all else. When Bruce took over, he was allowed to build his team. No pandering or anything. Just a winning team. I think he left when he felt the pressure to sell tickets— Gerrard and Gio are prime examples. I think ultimately that has plagued the team. Our last few DPs haven’t fit the needs of the team.
