If his drive and mentality are really gone he will never reach his former level. To reach that skill and vision he has to work hard yet you say those parts of him are gone. So what's the point in keeping a player around that will not improve or try to?

I think we would all welcome him if he showed his old self again but we have to see it first. Otherwise he made his choice, you reap what you sow.

Yo does Antonio Mohamed have a habit of starting mostly non Mexicans? Dude had only one Mexican in his starting lineup. I’m not a monterrey fan, I'm just wondering.

Gio and Vela were smart to pick up a couple of more years of high wages and endorsement deals. People may not like it for the NT development but I won’t hate, I’d do the same. Mexicans just have a very unique situation in the US market. Especially in California.

That said, people act like we have an insane amount of depth. A lot of our Euro forwards are looking pretty meh... and the talent in Mexico just isn’t standing out and I feel would be out of depth against the top nations. Love it or hate it, Gio and Vela are still some of our most talented and experienced players. I’d rather throw them against Germany in this cycle than roll the dice with domestic players who are less likely to advance out of the groups, at least in my mind.

Looks like Osorio won’t be renewing his contract post World Cup. Interesting he mentions a possible move to England after

I guess it'll all depend on how well he does this WC. Of course, if Mexico crashes and burns just like they've done in every big tournament under Osorio, he'll probably end up in MLS or something.

I can actually see him coaching in England if we make it to the R16.

Start the Bielsa to Mexico rumors again

    Looks like what?

Osorio and the FMF have already confirmed that he was offered an extension, which he has declined because he wants to see how the team performs in Russia.

If we get out of the group stages, he will accept the extension. If we don't, the FMF doesn't have to fire him, he will quit.

    Why do you say that?

He obviously wants to use Mexico as a springboard. If he does good and adds to his rep, he will ideally hope for an EPL position. if he does average maybe a USMNT or 2nd choice.

If he gets beat 7-0 vs Germany, then he can maybe go back to lowly MLS or Puebla jajaja

we talked about this lastnight on the CantinaMX podcast, we were wondering why you didnt connect. lawl.

Osorio won’t renew even if we get past the R16. He’s using us to further his career. I don’t blame him, those visits in England so he can get his name out there and test the waters

TBH I understand the obsession with getting past the R16 only because we’ve choked a couple of times. But objectively, our level is basically R16, with the team maybe getting to the next round on a great night. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only objective they’re giving Osorio is to get out of the group.

He started his career in England spying on Liverpool's training sessions. He was a conditioning coach at Man City

    Nothing farfetched about it.

Osorio qualified us to Russia walking. Never understood the criticism. Especially after almost missing the '14 WC.
