Soon to be breaking #cf97 news from a solid source. Nice buyout for Village of Bridgeview, 2/3 of bond debt is being bought out. it is apparently a done deal. pic.twitter.com/rFP4UTVmFs— J. Vlahakis (@jvlaha) April 2, 2019 Man that turf is going to suck in the fall. Mansueto and the other owners bought the lease out at 2/3 value. Hauptman cried poor Rebranding team to Chicago City Soccer Club Happens next year.
The comments are great. They are already bitching about ticket prices and parking. Also, a Don Walsh sighting! He is not buying any of it.
If this is true, it is a very good deal for Bridgeview, since 2/3 of the bond debt is a boat load of money and would go a long way towards to righting the ship in that town. It also gives them the stadium to do...something? with in the future. I guess who ever is building the hotel will be none too pleased, though. I felt they were really screwed over by Hauptman's dealing with the Fire (as have as us all).
I kinda hope it's true and I can haul ass at like 80 mph on 294 and drive the 30 miles or so pretty quickly. I'd still rather smoke all the weed and drink all the beer and just take a metra and jump off at museum campus or 18th whatever it's called
Why could we not still call them "The Fire"? I think Chicago City Football Club is stupid, but I am fine with a name change. Trying to explain Chicago Fire (or do an internet search) takes too much effort. We don't have to imagine it, we saw it from 1998-2006.
It wasn't just October, it's was the first few months of the season also. Park District didn't start working on the field until May/June.
WOW, NBC reporting on the FIRE. Maybe with the team moving back to the city, will change the media's mind on covering the team.
I think the 1000 fans that Mansueto saw on opening day didn't help his impression of the brand. Seeing Steve Landek with Mansueto on that day now makes sense.
To be honest, that had to do with Andi's being the owner. There will be 4 additional season ticket holders if this is true and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Soldier Field has bad public transportation and isn't in any neighborhood, I'm not sure the location will help attendance.
The move info is true. It’s been in the works for awhile. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/fire-move-to-austin.2087980/#post-37184390
I had no problems taking the 30-45 mins to get to SeatGeek. I have problems tacking on another 30-45 mins. At least in Bridgeview, there were back roads that can used.
I am really curious on the ownership structure is now. Joe paid a shit load of money to break the lease. I wonder if this wasn't part of the purchase price. He got 49% of the team for like $20 mil cash and the cost of breaking the lease.
