Waiting on Chris to do a deep dive into the Galaxy culture and develop proactive, agile solutions that everyone can buy into. FWIW, there was a great article on management BS on the Guardian site.
The need to “figure out what the organization is” directly contradicts previously made by Klein, but more worryingly any identity crisis experience are the direct result of Klein’s stewardship. Even in the down seasons of year’s past execution may have fallen short of expectation, but the Galaxy’s role as flagship team of the league was never in doubt. There are uncomfortable parallels with the rise of Manchester City and decline of Manchester United the coincide with the former’s new owners and the latter’s losing a long term hugely successful manager.
Well, at least some heads are beginning to roll: https://www.lagconfidential.com/2018/11/6/18068434/la-galaxy-fire-pete-vagenas Thanks for the memories Pete!
I say they can keep Klein as long as he does the smart thing and name Caleb Porter, Head Coach and Vice President of Soccer Operations. I say give Caleb the power to build and shape the future of the LA Galaxy.
No thanks to Porter. Bruce will be President of Soccer Operations and GM.....which to me sound like the same thing. Maybe he hires Cobi as head coach and Cien as Cobi's second......
Please not Cobi. I love the guy as a player and as a person. But having listened to him "analyzing" LAG games for several seasons I can tell you he isn't the guy for the job.
Lol. It was a joke, but funny to see you guys squirm as if anything I post actually has any sway with Klein.
I indeed squirmed at the idea of Cobi as the new head coach. It sounded too much like the lazy "promote a buddy" moves Klein has made in the past.
Klein has not only failed as a leader and head coach evaluator, he’s failed at maintaining the Galaxy’s unquestioned position as the number one soccer team in LA. Firing Pete is meaningless.
His problem is that he has not held up the One of the Most Ambitious Clubs in MLS status established by the grating Bruce Arena............
Sounds like Klein interviewed Arena for GM and then took a hard pass. Ouch. Got to wonder how much Bruce regrets taking the Nats job after the Klinnsman dumpster fire. One poor game in Trinidad and he can’t get hired?
In this case perhaps Klein never was serious about hiring someone who could threaten his turf, but felt that he needed the cover of going through the formalities of interviewing Bruce.
I would be shocked if Klein hires Arena - way too much pride he would have to swallow. Klein's priority is clearly not whether the Galaxy wins or not.
