But seriously I know hang is usually the negative but he does make some good points. And he has convinced me on several points and he makes me think. I appreciate his loyal opposition.
Well, this would ruin everything. Beckham quiere a Barros Schelotto para su equipo en la MLS https://t.co/nhOxtrcQJg— Miami-MLS (@Miami_MLS) August 29, 2018
It's just talk. Guille would be dumb not to listen. Until the Crew is saved he's going to have to keep his options open. Still scary. Frankly I'll be gutted if Guille ends up coaching anywhere in MLS outside of Columbus.
Thank you for talking me down from the ledge. We're out of beer in the office and I cannot even right now.
I wouldn't. Guille's break up from the Crew wasn't the cleanest. He deserved better treatment than the FO gave him.
Wait... so Guillermo isn't full-tilt #SaveTheCrew? He's talking to another team? Doesn't that make him scum now? I'm trying to remember the rules.
Awwww, pookie, you okay? Do you need someone nicely and slowly to explain to you what a trade request is?
Tactical genius Jim Curtain and his laughably supported Philadelphia Union have climbed within a point of the Crew...and they are playing in the US Open Cup final in a month. But, yes....Gregg is the only Sporting Director/Manager that is over achieving. What a ********in nightmare.
Yeah. The Philadelphia Union. It's the stuff nightmares are made of. I go to sleep every night DREADING the idea that Philly may actually get their act together once.
Pssst... that's kind of the point. Philadelphia is basically on par with the Crew, and yet no one has ever accused Jim Curtain of being a coaching genius.
Question to discuss. If Prec**t gets bought out, and Ggg doesn’t get named USMNT coach, does the new owner/new GM keep Ggg? Some would look at Ggg as part of the “old system” and Prec**t’s man, so he’s gone. Others might see keeping him as coach and sporting director as a stabilizing force in a time of transition. This is an honest question for debate (so, Hang, honest reply, not personal bias dripping with sarcasm, please [emoji16]).
Overall, Ggg has done fine with what he's been given. He hasn't been great by any means and I wonder what he could do with an invested owner. On the flip side, he did back Precourt's ambition when the move was announced and that's enough for me to say he should go.
He'll probably be kept almost as a thank you for enduring this whole Austin saga, at least for one year. Almost sorta like DC kept Ben Olsen through this year when they open a new stadium as a thank you for enduring teams with next to zero investment from ownership. But if they chose to let him go, they'd have their reasons. 5 years is a long time in any professional sport. If Curtin wins the US Open Cup in September Berhalter would be the longest serving active coach in MLS without a major trophy (barring a miracle MLS Cup run this winter). The ideas are getting stale as evidenced by the second dawn of The Goals Will Come era. Replacing him has to be taken under consideration by any rational ownership group. But in the end, I think they keep him one more year as a bridge between old and new and see what happens.
See Hang, not being a dick isn’t THAT hard, right? [emoji23] I do agree with what Hang said, unless GBS is available and wants to come here. Gregg won’t have a hard time finding employment either way.
Maybe? It depends on a whole shit load of variables. But I doubt new ownership would clear out Gregg just because he has "ties" to PSV. I do not think the whole/or even most of the house would be cleaned except maybe on the "senior" level in other departments. I keep thinking of when the team would be bought. God that seems so hopeful.
